Tell me what you think! Also would love any recommendations for other smaller schools.
Hi! I’m also applying to prep schools this year! I not really familiar with “chancing” people for boarding schools, but I would recommend applying to schools with higher acceptance rates. Schools you can look at includes NMH, George School, Mercersburg, Kent, Suffield…I’m sure there are a variety of options that may not be mentioned as much online. Good luckk!
You look like you’d be a great addition to any school community.
I’d definitely check out some of the other girls schools since you’re open to that. They tend to be less competitive overall.
Lots of schools are keen to get middle class kids and have FA available for them. At the same time, many middle class kids look very similar on paper to full pay kids in terms of activities, academics, etc., so they end up in many of the same “buckets” as those kids.
I like the schools @skyline29 suggested. You may also like St Andrews in Delaware.
I’d make sure to focus on what you bring to the school in terms of ECs and cultural background as that’s what will differentiate you from other applicants, so as you look through websites, think about that.
It sounds so trite, but just be yourself. Think of it as a conversation, not an evaluation.
You should give some thought to questions like “why do you want to go to BS?” “What do you want your next 4 years to be like?” “What classes interest you?” “How do you like to spend your free time?” “How would your friends describe you?” “What have you read lately that you liked?” – not to impress, but to show who you are.
Interviewers love kids your age and want to see them at their best, so they aren’t looking for gotchas.
Have fun, smile, etc. And have a few questions about the school (that aren’t answered on the website) so you can show interest. You’ll do great!
