Hi! I’m an incoming 8th grader this fall and am planning to apply to exeter, andover, hotchkiss, lawrenceville, sps, choate, the hill, loomis chaffee, taft, and deerfield and was wondering what my chances are.
Demographics:
• US Citizen
• Type of school: Public middle school
• Gender/Race/Ethnicity: Female, North African (My mom is from Morocco and my dad is from Libya). I’m also Muslim.
• Both of my parents immigrated to the US and are US citizens
• GPA and test scores: Current 3.76 GPA going into 8th but i’m confident I can get that up by the time I submit records. Scored in the 99th percentile on the ELA SBA in 7th grade and in the 90th percentile on the Math SBA.
• SSAT scores: I haven’t taken the test this year but I have practiced and I’m pretty strong on the reading aspect and am practicing regularly for the math and vocab sections. I know that my SSAT scores have to be very very good to make up for my lack of EC’s and sports so I’m expecting a 97th percentile.
Coursework:
I took 7/8th combined math last year and ended with a very high A. I’m taking Algebra 1 this year which is a year ahead of the regular course. My school doesn’t have the option of taking any other highly accelerated classes.
Fully fluent in Moroccan Arabic (parents language) and will be taking Spanish for my 3rd year. Will be taking the fluency test for Arabic during the upcoming school year.
Extracurriculars:
Community Service:
• Volunteering at a nonprofit that distributes basic items to children and babies; 2 hours a week; planning for 36 weeks
• Volunteering at my states Trail Association to help build and maintain local trails; 2 hours a week; planning for 20 weeks due to winter weather
• Planning to start volunteering at a nonprofit that promotes organic gardening; would be maintaining garden beds, harvesting produce, weeding and mulching gardens, etc; 2 hours a week; planning for 36 weeks
I would really love to volunteer in something healthcare related but unfortunately I am not old enough to do so.
*I can also volunteer more if that could help boost my apps
Clubs:
• Debate Club; 1 hour meetings weekly; will most likely be participating in competitions later in the year
• WEB (Where Everyone Belongs); 8th graders help 6th graders’ orientation and transition into middle school by providing guidance and acting as a mentor; most likely 1 hour meetings weekly; 36 wks/school year
• Yearbook Club; 1 hour a week; 36 wks/school year
• Global Issues Club ; 1 hour a week; 36 wks/school year
*No sports or any awards of any kind
Other
• Was thinking something with hiking and backpacking could be a good personal essay??
• My school doesn’t offer much in terms of EC’s

• Somwhat confident in my essays
• I have an interview with Hotchkiss scheduled and will be scheduling other schools asap as soon as Canidate Profile is submitted.
