Someone posted that the other day. They thought they could afford and due to cuts, now can’t. It’s why I’d Check Drew too, especially since the student wants an LAC.

Compare Drew and Swarthmore… Not the same at all. Drew doesnt even have a category in this forum which says something. Drew is the 85th best LAC, whilst Swarthmore is the 3rd best LAC. I would rather just attend Rutgers at that point
It’s a question of if you want large or small - at least to me. Drew or Swat won’t matter for med school. Rutgers is large and disjointed.
Ramapo gives you better med school odds if you get in the LECOM program. Better than Rutgers.
Rank - by the way -means little. What makes US News the authority ? It’s to sell magazine. My kid chose an unranked over a top 20 in his major. Was comparing notes with an Ivy grad at trivia night. Makes more than him from a generic flagship.
Swat is more selective. But the kid with the higher gpa and MCAT will fare better - Drew, Ramapo or Swat.
You have your plan so best of luck.
One thing to consider is how you plan on funding medical school. Although the salary of a physician is enough to pay back even private loans, qualifying for private loans without a creditworthy cosigner is another can of worms.
Wayne Med-Direct - Wayne State University - this BA/MD program comes with an undergraduate full ride along with four years of free medical school tuition.

That’s good news! The remaining question is would you like for someone else to pay for you to have a traditional residential college experience, and possibly a different overall experience than a large research university near home.

Right now I dont have to worry about Med School. Focusing on undergrad.

They only take in 10 students, but I can still try.
It is my understanding that many of these programs accept a limited number of students.
I agree a with you about focusing on undergrad right now. Med school will always be there if you still wish to apply down the road.

To add onto what this kind gentleman is saying, its incredibly limited. If 1000 kids apply and they take 10 kids as Wayne does, its a 1% acceptance rate. It doesn’t make any sense for me to spend hours writing multiple essays on these medical programs when I can divert that time focusing on QB and my other reaches.

Personally, I think that acceptance rate is worth an application.
Given that undergrad is a full ride and medical school is free tuition, I agree that it is worth it to apply.
I also think that this student should focus on Questbridge and schools that meet full need, and take the focus off of BS/MD programs that are not affordable.

For QB national college match, OP just has to apply. Applicants can rank up to 15 QB partner schools and students will find out in late October if they become a finalist. Only finalists can go on to match with one of the 15 schools, which they find out in early December.
OP does not have to be accepted/participate in college prep scholars (summer program for juniors) in order to apply to QB national college match
If OP meets the income and asset hurdles for QB I would encourage them to apply to both. I don’t think we know right now for sure if OP qualifies for QB…we know there’s a single mom, but don’t know if bio dad is in the picture.

Bio-Dad isn’t the picture in that we have absolutely no contact with him and I don’t remember meeting him. A CSS waiver will be needed.. I plan on applying to the CPS which opens early Feb.

Is it pssible for everyone to predict which schools I will get into?
Need your unweighted GPA. Don’t say the school doesn’t provide. It’s easy.
Take each A - give it a 4. Take each B give it a 3. Take each C and give it a 2. 1 for a D.
Leave out PE.
Add up the points and divide by # of classes.
You also don’t yet have an SAT - so it’s hard to give an answer at this point.
Also, why DE Calc. Is AP not offered at school?
