Few seem to mention that Huntsville metro has two state universities. The other one, AAMU, also has mechanical engineering and even better scholarships.
The reason that there are two is the legacy of segregation. AAMU is the HBCU, while UAH is the HWCU. Even to this day, their enrollments are highly racially skewed relative to the state population.
