Are you planning to take a test? While it’s not required at some schools(check your list), they often do prefer to see a score from international applicants. You have a strong profile and I’d guess you can get a strong test score.

Assuming a reasonable TOEFL and SAT reading score, with a math/statistics major you likely will get into most of the nine US universities listed. Among these nine, I’d say UIUC, UW–Madison, and Maryland are the hardest but your chance is still pretty good.

The more serious concerns are whether you’re able to secure a student visa, whether your international student status may be revoked any time, and whether the “must graduate in four years” idea floated around by the current administration is giving you second thought on coming to the US when you also have options in Canada and Australia.

Thx!! I have no time for SAT, I will take the TOEFL test again. Do you think what score on the TOEFL would be appropriate for these schools? About 95?

Thx!! I have no time for SAT. Do you think a score of 95 on the TOEFL is enough for U of T, UBC and UW?

I have to second this – I worry a lot about international students and visas with the current administration. Many of us would love to have international students here, but you might want to focus more on Canada and Australia. :frowning:

I have no idea of admissions -but you seem like a really strong candidate -and you have a reasonable list of US colleges - I think you’d have a good shot at admission to at least a few of them -but do check on test requirements because those have been shifting. No sense spending your money on a place where you need ACT/SAT test scores.

As far TOEFL - check with the schools for the scores they are looking for.

ETA: Sorry to respond to you yikkblue instead of the OP!

thx

I’m not familiar with TOEFL requirements in Canada but for most schools in the US, most accepted international students have scores that fall in the 85–95 range so your TOEFL won’t be the reason they don’t accept you.

Thx!! Do you have any suggestions regarding the arrangement of my application rounds (EA and RD)for US collages?

For public universities like the ones on your list, plan to apply EA to all of them.

Thx  But why? Could you elaborate on it?

Some fill most of their class in the EA round (UMD is known for this, for example). With some universities, admission also seems to be tougher later in the season as the class fills. For public universities there is really no downside to applying EA when that option is offered, unless a student needs more time to take an additional sitting of a test, or if they think first semester senior grades will improve their GPA.

Also, many schools only consider EA students for honors programs and scholarships (although, as an international student OP might not qualify for scholarships - it depends on the school).

Is there any reason you aren’t applying to UK universities like Warwick? I would choose it over UNSW.

I replied to the wrong person. I’m sorry, but I can’t delete it.

I hate rain

I’m sorry that replied to the wrong person.

You might want to check out the climate in Seattle, Washington, and in Vancouver, British Columbia.

On the other hand, when getting a 4 year degree, students can put up with quite a bit of weather that they were not originally used to. I still remember meeting a student at the University of Michigan who had never seen snow until they arrived in Ann Arbor (and not for a few months after arriving). I thought they were very brave, but they did get used to it.

Why not compare the annual rainfall in Cambridgeshire, Oxford, or London vs New South Wales? You might be surprised.

Coventry (home to Warwick) is rainier than those three UK regions, but still drier than NSW. So is Edinburgh, home to another strong university.

All the UK schools will be much cheaper than the US ones while giving you a comparable if not superior math education, unless you can get permission from the US school to skip prerequisites and start with more advanced courses freshman year. Without that, among the US universities I think UWisc or UIUC would have the best undergrad options for you.

Can you explain what you mean by having no time for SAT/ACT?
