Chance Me -- Match Me Thread Nursing Major [3.79 GPA, 33 ACT, 1410 SAT, <$80k]

Good for you OP!! It is very loving of you as parents to remove cost constraints from your kids concerns.

If she loved the UPenn campus, Drexel is right next door.

You are absolutely right that our list has a pretty wide variety of schools at the moment. We tried to home in on schools that are urban (although admittedly Knoxville and Milwaukee have a different vibe), have D1 sports (especially good college basketball, D is a huge fan of men’s and women’s basketball), and are large enough to provide a “traditional” college experience.

We have visited and crossed off a few schools, such as U Conn and Elon – both felt too rural for my D. (And, if U Conn’s women’s basketball team wasn’t enough to sway her, then it definitely was not a good fit!) We also visited Northeastern, which she did not like at all (I was surprised because it seemed to check several boxes) and Loyola Chicago (too close to home).

Getting back to the school suggestions – Thanks to everyone who has thrown out ideas. Creighton is definitely going on the list. Duquesne and Drexel are being investigated!
I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond.

Im a fan of Jesuit colleges and agree Creighton should go on the list. Take a look at SLU as well. Or maybe Gonzaga (too outdoorsy?)

U of Louisville? (Adding bball colleges)

Three more to maybe look at - FAU is in Boca - more suburban - but close to Fort Lauderdale and in the Miami to W Palm stretch which is really a blob of urbaness. Not really sure about the nursing competitiveness but the school itself isn’t overly competitive (vs. the schools on your list).

VCU is in Richmond - many like Richmond as a city. UVM is in a small city - seems like she likes the NE.

Hopefully the nursing schools can break out admit stats for you - vs. the overall university.

Good luck.

School spirit was not a huge issue for my daughter, so she really liked CWRU and we liked their connection with the Cleveland Clinic. Other schools she liked were Ohio State and Delaware. Ohio State does have limited DE.
