Nursing (BSN) Admits Fall 2026 - Class of 2030

The nursing decision threads from prior years have been a huge help to me, so I wanted to start one for this year’s applicants. I know a few of us have received Pitt acceptances already. Please feel free to add your list, application status, decisions, scholarships, and visit impressions.

Good luck!

Here is where we are so far:

Pitt (applied 8/16, app complete 8/19, admitted 9/22 + guaranteed admission to DNP or PhD)

Iowa (applied 8/16 and accepted 9/9 to the University – nursing supplement due 12/11)

Marquette (applied, pending)

Tennessee (applied, pending)

There are about 5-7 more nursing schools on my D’s “to do” list – BC, Case Western, Michigan, USF-CA, Creighton (?), U Miami (?), and TCU (?) – plus a couple of pre-nursing or non-nursing schools close to home – UIUC and UW-Madison.

The Pitt acceptance yesterday was huge. We visited last summer and she really liked it. She prefers an urban campus with nearby clinicals, which definitely describes Pitt. As a result, she was able to remove several schools that she knew she liked less.

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your D’s stats?

Our common app is complete with all essays, etc. we have about 18 schools we are applying to. Just waiting on this Fridays SAT results to come out and make sure he didn’t/did score better so that we can submit scores with our “reaches”

Sure, happy to share.

ACT 33 (35 science/35 math), SAT superscore 1410 (710 R/700 M) – for Pitt she self-reported both scores but only sent the official ACT

UW GPA 3.79 / W GPA 4.98

9 AP classes (AP Lang-5, AP Comp Sci Principles-5, APUSH-4, AP World-4, AP HUG-4, AP Physics-3, currently taking AP Bio, AP Govt, AP Calc AB). Dual enrollment in Physics, Bio, Anatomy & Physiology, and English 101/111. [FYI: Her AP Physics and AP Bio are both AP and dual enrollment; she did not report the 3 in AP Physics to Pitt.]

Hospital volunteer, varsity athlete, a few other clubs with leadership roles – but honestly, pretty average overall in the EC arena.

My daughter’s list is:

Applied EA: Fairfield U, Sacred Heart, Providence, Salve Regina, Southern CT State University, UCONN, Quinnipiac, Monmouth

Almost Ready: Endicott, Pace

Maybe will add 1-2 more? Our school sends their transcripts, letters, etc in waves (ie they are finishing up 10/15 apps and will move to 11/1 soon) so nothing is done on that end yet.

Sounds like you are in a pretty good spot – now just waiting! Keep us posted.

My D will get USF-CA and Creighton out today, I think. Both of those supplemental essays are done, she said, but asked if I could read tonight for typos before she hits submit.

Happy to have found this group! My daughter has applied to 16 schools, mostly DA. She’s done with supplementals - waiting on the dual/direct one for the University of Kentucky. It’s been a busy couple of months!

D26 has 9 schools- a mix of direct admit and non direct admit. She applied to all on August 1 when the Common App opened. She wants out of the NE so looking at southern schools for the most part.

That’s a great idea! I’ve found the past threads super helpful too, so I’m happy to join in. I’ve already applied to Pitt and I’m still waiting to hear back—looking forward to seeing everyone’s updates, decisions, and experiences!

D26 was admitted to University of Kentucky yesterday for Pre-nursing. She is very excited. We have not visited the campus. She is very aware that their upper division nursing program is extremely selective so she has a LOT to think about if she were to enroll, including coming up with a Plan B for major if she were not the be accepted into their nursing. But the admit definitely feels really good!

Congrats – that’s great news!!

University of Iowa Info:

Last week, my D26 and I visited the University of Iowa, including a nursing-specific info session. It’s a nice-sized campus in a cute college town. Their application process is two steps. First, you apply to the general University with a “nursing interest” (this is basically pre-nursing). Once you’re accepted, if you meet certain listed criteria (found on the website), you will be invited to submit a direct admit nursing supplemental application. My D has been generally accepted (nursing interest) and received a nice merit award, bringing the total cost to under $40k for OOS. She has received but not yet submitted her direct admit supplemental app due in December.

A couple of notes: Their direct admit program is very competitive. The speaker said 700+ applications for 84 spots, with a 14% acceptance rate. There is a traditional (non-direct) pathway too, but it is a 4.5-year program (nursing starts second semester of junior year). The acceptance rate for the traditional pathway is about 45%.

Everyone who applies for “direct admit” is interviewed (it’s a virtual group interview with about 4-5 applicants per group). Decisions are made based on the nursing supplement and interview. They start reviewing after the due date.

Clinicals are mostly on campus at the University’s large hospital and health system (with the possible exception of geriatrics, which may be at an assisted living facility or similar). Overall, we were impressed and enjoyed our visit. (My D’s only hesitation was the apparent lack of diversity on campus.)

Hi there! Anyone with any updates? D26 has been accepted to Carthage, Valparaiso and St. Ambrose for DA. Would love to hear if any of the other midwest private schools have started giving out acceptances!

Congrats on three great offers so far! (I hear so many great things about Carthage.) Does she have a favorite? What other schools is your D26 applying to / waiting for decisions? We are also from the Midwest, although my D is applying all over.

So far, my D has only been accepted by Pitt (which was actually huge for her because she really liked it when we visited two summers ago). We are headed back for an admitted student day in November. I will report back.

In terms of other Midwest private schools, my D has applied to Creighton, Marquette, and Case Western. I think (hope) Creighton will be next because it starts rolling out decisions in November. The others have mid or late December decision dates.

Thank you. That’s awesome about Pitt! Congratulations! My D also applied to Marquette. What do you know about the Creighton program? I was going to suggest to her that she add it to her list.

D26 got her acceptance this evening! Accepted to Pitt with guaranteed admission to DNP/PhD. Her application was complete on 9/29 and acceptance 10/17.

She applied to another rolling admission Loyola Chicago a few weeks ago but hasn’t heard back yet.

D26 just got accepted to Auburn! It’s her top choice. Not a direct admit so admitted for pre nursing. So so far she has been admitted to Ole Miss, Kentucky, Arkansas and Auburn. Five more to go- the rest all mid-late December.

Love all this good news! Yay to everyone’s kids.

@Sage5 – Congrats! We are going to a Pitt Admitted Nursing Day event in November. Let me know if you have any questions.

@coastal2024 – That is amazing news! I actually know someone whose daughter is a nursing student at Auburn and loves it. Now that your D has been admitted to her top choice, it must feel like smooth sailing at this point!

@chicparent – Honestly, I don’t know a ton about Creighton. I have a few adult friends who attended back in the ’90s and liked it. And it always seems to get good reviews on the nursing threads here. My D applied because it checked a lot of boxes (urban campus, school spirit, good/close clinicals, etc.) – and we felt like nursing is such a tough admit that it made sense to cast a wide net. If we end up visiting, I will post.

Stay tuned – we have visits at Case Western and Pitt coming up. I will post afterwards.

It is truly insane how quickly the veil of stress lifted for her. She’s been a mess and is a completely different kid now that she isn’t worried about decisions!
