Ik my gpa is super bad so please tell me if I can get into these schools direct admit BSN and recommend me schools in PA that have direct admit nursing

Also ik IUP requires a 3.25 to get in to the BSN program but I was wondering if they consider weighted gpa

Probably, at least indirectly via rigor, but contact your admissions officer and ask.

I would add Duquesne to your list.

Gannon or some of the smaller schools?

CCAC and try to transfer to Pitt?

You could look at WVU. Their medical campus is actually very nice. They’re still building new facilities.

Get good clinical experience and pass your boards and you’re set. It doesn’t matter where you went to school.

I’ll tag @2plustrio for some input.

You might want to consider starting at your community college where you can get a nursing degree. You can then continue at a four year school to get a bachelors in nursing. Is that an option you would consider?

Your list looks reasonable to me, but in my opinion, Pitt could be the most challenging one on your list.

For senior year I’m taking anatomy and physiology, consumer math, honors bio 2, online gym during the fall, & AP Lit

My wife and many others have said that anatomy was one of their more difficult nursing classes.

is it possible for you to take pre-calc or stats instead of consumer math?

Great suggestion! You will likely also save money by going the community college route. In addition, once you get your RN at the community college, you can look for part time work as a nurse while you attend a 4 year college to complete your BSN and you can look for full time nursing work in summers and on winter break.

Some colleges admit students directly into their nursing school. Others admit after 2 or 3 semesters of college, based on your college gpa. I suggest that you look for colleges which are not direct admit so that you can work hard to get the grades you need for admission to the nursing program.

Yes so does my Mom :frowning: so I’m thinking of maybe dropping honors bio 2 and taking a&p or vice versa. My friends who took a&p told me it’s manageable but there’s a lot of memorisation

I rly dont wanna pay more than 20k out of pocket and yes my school offers precalc and stats my snr yr. I’m considering doing stats to prepare me for nursing but the thing is I’m nervous to take it cuz I’m pretty bad math

Yea I was thinking of gannon too cuz I heard it’s easy to get into for BSN. Do u think with my stats I’d be able to make it into wvu nursing program?

Yes maybe I should consider pre nursing. My mom also recommend I do associates bc associates aren’t as competitive as a BSN

Do any of the schools on your list meet that price point for you? Run their net price calculators with your parents.

Well, you are going to have to take stats to get a BSN (check the requirements at all your schools). I would encourage you to get exposure to stats in high school before you take it in college.

Yes for most of these schools they offer merit and I’m planning on applying for local scholarships. Esp for commonwealth and IUP cost including room and board is around 22k

Yes they have ap stats and regular stats so I think I’ll apply for the regular stats to prepare me for what I’ll have to do in college

ADN programs can still be competitive. But if you complete an ADN program and pass the NCLEX to become an RN, you can work as a nurse, and also have the option of going to an RN->BSN program.

That is nursing school basically. Tons of memorization so it is good practice.

You can always apply and cross your fingers!

Northampton Community College has student housing.
