I haven’t decided which school for ED. I’m thinking about giving a shot of CMU or WashU. My teacher recommended Emory as well. I understand that my gpa may be less competitive. But I still want to know will be any chance for me?

Do you have a budget limit?

Is there a compelling reason you want to ED and are you (a) sure you want to attend the one you pick and (b) can afford?

If you like private colleges like CMU and WashU (which are very different from each other, incidentally–those are two of the most popular colleges at our feederish HS, but there tends to be little overlap in the kids interested in them), then you could consider a lot more options besides just those two. That would give you a much better chance of getting one or more offers from such colleges. Of course it would be helpful to know if you have any sort of budget in mind.

I’ll say I am personally always a bit skeptical about Canadians looking at large public universities in the US. You already have great large public universities in Canada that would likely be way more affordable for you. Our private system is more distinct, and sometimes offers really good need or need+merit aid, so I understand that. But I rarely see much of a value proposition for Canadians and our publics.
