You seem to be a great candidate especially instate. Two great choices of schools also. You can see the history of your high school and compare to who got accepted. Good luck.

You sure seem to hit all needed points so I’d guess yes.

Best of luck.

where exactly would i need to look in order to find that kind of information about my high school?

You have to ask your school /counseler. Also some schools use programs that you might have access to, to evaluate your situation. It doesn’t really matter since your in striking distance. For MSU check out Honor’s since it has lots of advantages at MSU.

You might use Naviance or whatever your school uses. Good luck.

Are you considering medical school as one possible option?

Regardless, biology is a major that often leads to some form of graduate school. PhD’s are usually fully funded (with a stipend that is just enough to live on). MDs and master’s degrees are typically not funded. As such…

For the purpose of applying to universities (or to graduate programs including MD programs) this is the same as being a US citizen.

So, you are an in-state Michigan resident, with very strong academics, good ECs, applying to excellent in-state public universities, with Michigan State as an excellent back up in case you don’t get into the University of Michigan.

This all makes a lot of sense. I think that you are doing very well and are showing a lot of maturity and practicality in terms of where you are applying. Your class rank is very good. Your SAT is very good. You can do very well with a degree from either the University of Michigan or Michigan State.

I think that your chances at U of M are very good, but if you do not get in then I think that MSU is a great choice.

Two things to think about basically starting in September when you arrive at university: One is that your classes will overlap with premed classes, and these classes will be academically demanding and will be full of very strong premed students. You will want to make a strong effort to stay ahead in all of your classes. The other is that at some point you will need to decide what you might do next with a degree in biology or biochemistry. You should also keep in mind that the very large majority of students who start university thinking “premed” end up doing something else.

However, there is lots of time to think about this. Right now I think that you are doing very well.

thank you for responding! i am hoping to attend pa school after undergraduate. i know that umich has a “pre-health” track for students considering any future medical career, and it’s not completely specific to just attending med school afterwards. knowing this, i think i should be all set academically when i apply to pa school later on. again, thank you so much for responding! i should find out very soon but i’m just trying to ease my nerves a bit

You can do from either. You know you’ll be in at state so wait on UM. If it happens great. If not, Mich State will get you to the same PA school.

Good luck.
