I have a lot of awards, such as AP Scholar, but I don’t want to list them.

Thank you very much!

(I am also in-state, but a military brat so I have moved all over the world/country)

Your sat score and GPA seem to be on the lower end of the UVa spectrum, but you make up for that with very strong extracurricular activities. I think essays could be a deciding factor for your admission. It would be easier to evaluate your record if you gave some indication of your course difficulty.

Good luck with your endeavors!

^^ Isn’t UVA’s average GPA a 4.1 though?

I was looking at the unweighted GPA. I’m sorry if I gave the wrong impression; abm’s gpa is great, and there are probably a lot of students at UVa who got in with that. But I suspect there are also a lot of 3.9’s and 4.0’s. What I meant is that although abm’s gpa is definately in the ball park, other factors will determine the final decision. abm can probably get in with some good essays and some impressive awards.

If the average GPA was around 3.9-4.0, then it would be harder to get into than Princeton, who has a 3.86 average GPA. I’m pretty sure that UVA has around a 3.7 average GPA UW.

Maybe you’re right. I was looking at the data for my norther Virginia high school (which sends around 40 people to UVa each year) and the average accepted gpa is like 3.92.

GPA is kinda hard to use as a factor because some schools it is easier to get a good GPA than others. Thats why I like SAT because its a universal factor.

Thank you all so much!!! :)

i would hope most colleges don’t use the SAT as a universal factor. most don’t. there are some very brilliant kids out there who don’t test well. you must keep that in mind.

sorry, that is not what I meant. No doubt, it is very important, but compared to GPA, it is easier to tell where people stand in according to each other. ECs, grades, class rank, rigor, etc. there are a lot of factors.

if you’re in the top 5% of your class and in-state, you’re pretty much guaranteed admission (with solid SATs and a solid essay). at least that’s how it is at my high school (competitive public).
