Applying to College Chance Me / Match Me! College Search & Selection

Your EC’s are great, but your stats probably won’t get you through the first round of many of these schools. Rework your list. You don’t really have any safeties or likelies. And if you don’t want to go, it’s not a safety.

UT Austin is far from a safety, not even sure you’d get CAP. Not even sure you will get into ANY of the schools listed.

I’m confused.

Most Ivys don’t have business.

Most schools don’t allow a minor in engineering.

And INSEAD is a grad school.

And you call UT Austin a safety…

hmmmm -I would research your list and then republish.

Thanks, I assume SAT will increase since I only took it once. GPA I’m not so sure of. Betting on my IB scores to pull through.

Not Necessarily a safety, my parents just want me to apply so put it lower on the list.

You need to calculate your Capped weighted UC GPA since the minimum eligibility for OOS applicants is 3.4 for the UC’s.

Reach, target and safety are not determined based on how much you want, or don’t want, to attend.

Can you be more specific?

Take all of the UC’s off of your list. The minimum GPA is 3.4 for non-residents in the A through G coursework.

You’ll have trouble with the CAL states as well.
Your “strong” extracurriculars will not make up for your lack of a competitive GPA. It’s all about GPA and rigor as one of the first cutoffs.

Also, some of the UC’s and Cal states may not have full business departments.
San Diego State, the Cal Poly’s and a number of the popular California state universities are not easy to get into, so they should not be considered safeties especially since you are a non-resident, with a non-competitive GPA.

Edited to add: engineering is an impacted major. If you are not admitted directly into engineering, you can’t take the classes for them; the computer will reject any attempt to try to take those classes. There’s just not enough space for all the students that want to major in engineering. Yes, that includes minors and double majors.

This post is just trying to get a rise out of people. Don’t fall for it.

No way someone who founded a multi-million company would not know that there is no such thing as an undergrad business law major or any undergraduate law major for that matter in US colleges.

And also not aware that out of the 8 Ivies, Stanford, and MIT, only 1 has an undergraduate business program.

Penn and Cornell both have undergraduate business colleges.

OP, if you’re being genuine here, you need to completely rethink your college list.

A reminder that CC is supposed to be a friendly and welcoming place. If you don’t have a productive answer to this chance me, just don’t post and ignore this thread.

LSE may not care about your GPA at all if you have 38 predicted, Math HL 6 or 7 (AA or AI are fine), and 1450 SAT.
Add 4 from UEdinburgh, Stirling*, Strathclyde*, Heriot-Watt*, Aberdeen*, King’s, Bath, Durham, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Queen’s Belfast*, Royal Holloway*, Loughborough.
Include at least 2 *universities from the above list (3 to maximize odds - all are solid&reputable.) The Scottish universities will give you more leeway.

Personally I’d pick LSE, then UEdinburgh, Aberdeen, Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt but I could be persuaded to replace Aberdeen with Bath (because I love the city  )

Why do you want to attend college? From your description you have already been wildly successful as the owner of a multi-million dollar business. If you are set on college you need a more realistic list. Your grades/test scores will likely knock you out of consideration at many (most) of the places you have listed. I can’t speak to the UK schools which may be more willing to enroll a student with a low gpa if they have a strong predicted IB score.

Many of your target schools are reaches, and your safeties…are not. I would add some other schools.

Also, based on your unusual profile - excellence in business activities, bad academics, and imbalanced profile - I would apply to Babson (reach), Bentley (low reach), Bryant (high match).

In my opinion, your reach and match schools are not possible with these stats.

Seriously? This is not believable. If you have a company worth a few million dollars, who did the legal work for that company. Someone your age would not have been able to do so.

Most of these should be added to your already ridiculously long reach school list.

Who made this list of potential colleges for you?

Adding…I don’t think any of these have a very very strong chance of acceptance. And anyway…you don’t want to attend so they should be removed from your list.
