Really Good LORs, SOPs and Essays.

I am planning to apply for University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of Virginia, University of Texas - Austin, UIUC, University of Pennsylvania, New York University, University of California Los Angeles, University of Wisconsin - Madison. My intended major is Business Management. Please chance me and tell me what can i do to improve my profile.

I’d say you have a pretty good chance overall. Are you a 17’er? If yes, have you already written your essays?
UPENN, what with being an ivy, is a bit of a crapshoot, but you never know.
All the best for your decisions :)

Right, You seem to have a good profile overall. But, your 11th scores seem to be average but I am sure you can address it in your essays.
Try not to list all your ECs on the common app, select a few which you really love.
Overall, I can’t say anything about UPenn, but I think you have a good chance at the others.
Also, I see that you are into computers, so make sure that you show the colleges that.
Hope we all get into our top choices. :)

@idream, Have you written your essays, I am starting them. ;)

Mrinal, lolno I haven’t :stuck_out_tongue:
I guess I ought to start them too. I’m just really caught up between SAT’s/ACT’s, summer programs and an internship I’m trying to get. Plus, my JEE prep classes have started too and they take up a great deal of my time. You’re lucky you’re done with your ACT and SAT subject tests.

:D Yes, the JEE classes are quite tiring. FIITJEE does not give me any time to do any extra studies like research. Even though, I plan to do some ECs at Brown when I get there
As the time flies by, the stress of college admissions dawns upon me.

@mrinal and @idream I am thinking of giving ACT again in April to score a 34 or 35. First time I got
ACT Composite : 32
ACT English : 35
ACT Maths : 36
ACT Reading : 22
ACT Science : 35

Should i give it or not? What strategy do you recommend for Reading Section? I really want to raise my score. Are you taking the ACT or not???
Also if you could post your facebook profile link it will be great. I would like to friend you on facebook.

I ONLY gave the ACTs
I would say to practice more and I recommend Princeton Review along with The Real ACT guide. For more info, see the ACT section at CC.
And, I am not on Facebook ( deactivated actually ).

A score of 32 is not a bad score at all, gaurav. In fact, it’s perfectly adequate for the universities you’ll be applying to. I haven’t taken any standardized tests yet.

Completely agree with idream, 32 is the bang 50 percentile for most colleges including the ivies. You can be sure that you won’t be rejected because of your ACTs ;).
Just focus on your ECs and community services and you should be fine. :)

You guys started your essays already?

Don’t want last minute frenzy, do we ?? ;)

Lol. True that. :)

Is it only me, or do the 17’ers use more smileys than necessary while posting?? :D
