Chance son for a bunch of reaches [NY, valedictorian, 1520]

How is Cornell a better fit than Michigan…other than Ann Arbor being a more bustling place than Ithaca?

Don’t set yourselves up for disappointment ahead of time!

Congrats on the acceptances and good luck on the ones you are still waiting for. As a finalist for Villanova Presidential he automatically gets $16K per year if he doesn’t get the full tuition…and almost half of the finalists get the award so he’s got a good shot for that too!

You and he should both be so proud. And keeping fingers crossed for good outcomes next week too!

I hope he can get excited about Michigan (if that is the current fave) and start picturing himself there. Send the LOCI /updates to the WashU and ND schools, if he really would take a spot there over Michigan.

I would ask him why he feels they are a better fit ? other than the name of the school. Is it size, programs, location? Then use that information to help him fall in love with one of the schools on his accepted list. If he loves Boston I can see BU and or Tufts coming through.

Definitely! I think ND was bonkers this year compared to years past. I’d guess several of these your child will get into.

Accepted to Johns Hopkins and off the UNC waitlist in the span of 1 hour. Very emotional right now

Congrats on all the big acceptances!!! Any of those schools would be lucky to have your son. Regarding Cornell: which school did he apply to? Because bio could be in 2 different schools. My son had similar academic stats and got into CAS at Cornell ED for bio. But we are not in state so I’d say your son has a better chance being in NY! Good luck!

He applied to the CAS! Thank you! Not sure what to expect this week but anything extra would be a cherry on top. Who knows what is in store (either way he’s in an amazing place with amazing options)
