and if I got a 30 on the ACT

how would my chances be then?

Better, but not great. What’s the deal with your school? Is it a small religious school? Is it rigorous? Does it place a lot of people in top colleges? Getting into UVA as an OOS applicant is difficult, so you should have stats that are well above the mean to have a good shot.

except that he’s instate and has a decent shot.

Actually, i’m not out of state; i’m in state. The school i go to is a very small private school (about 260 k-12). My school has had students admitted to some of the top elite colleges. In the past several years students have been admitted to Brown, Bryn Mawr, Christendom, Dartmouth, George Mason, Harvard, James Madison, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Purdue, Stanford, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, VMI, The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and William and Mary.

I guess that changes everything. You’ve probably got a pretty solid shot at UVa, then. I don’t know about the others.

BTW, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I saw JMU, Purdue, VT and VMI on your list of “top elite colleges”. lololol. I’m assuming that was a typo.

haha i just went on to my school’s website and copied and pasted the list.
lol i forgot to edit those out
but do you really think i have a solid shot with my current SAT scores?
i’m still awaiting my ACT scores. I think i got in the 28-31 range.

As an instater, you have a pretty good shot. Your chances at the others aren’t too good, but it’s still possible. Try to get your SAT/ACT as high as possible…

thanks for the feedback. So, cavalier302, i take you go to UVA? what kind of stats did you have when you applied?

Take the SATs again, somewhere around a 2000 would be a nice, average SAT score

also, put ur high school activities or if it has been something that u’ve been doing for a while, write like tae kwon do (7 years), dont put middle school achivements (im assuming that 8th grade is middle school)
