Chances of getting into MIT or Stanford

Before starting I would inform you that , I could only join these schools if I get a financial aid [my parents annual income is $7990 ] as of now I am in grade 11 so haven’t done lots of thing , my some achievements are listed below

  1. I qualified for IOITC [ Its training camp for IOI in India ] I qualified for IOITC but didn’t get selected in top 4 people to represent my country at IOI
but till 12th grade end I can pretty much win a silver at IOI
  2. I worked at Directi [ codechef.com ] as a problem setter for there competitive programming contest in summers [ kind of internship ] also got a letter of recommendation from them.
  3. I have a YouTube channel with half a 20000 subscribers [I teach about competitive programming there]
  4. I cleared couple exams like NTSE
  5. I have a overall 90 % in my CBSE curriculum
I have 5’s in two AP’s Computer science principles and computer science A
also gave Calculus AB and BC and have a 4 and 5
  6. {But I don’t wanna just study at MIT/Stanford } I can tell them that I would help them win next ACM ICPC [ as I already won a silver at IOI ]
  7. In my essays I would write basically about my book “My Great Indian Dream” not yet published its based on my life // I can write this in my collage essay , When you ask a typical Indian what they have done to C.S field they would recount of giving 5 CEO to Tech Gaints , but that’s not the real face of India, the real face of India is 230 million people go to bed hungry daily , I can write in my collage application about how can I contribute to the community as my ultimate dream is make Indians become capable to at lest apply to these universities
  8. I have won Google-Code-In [ here many opensource companies come and give us task like to code something for them or implement something on there project ] so I have contribute to my community in many ways
  9. I can manage to get almost a perfect score in SAT and subject tests , next year
  10. I also have another letter of recommendation written from prof. As in summers I didn’t went home stayed there studying till 2 am Asking x and figuring out y

So, in short I dedicated a lot of my time to competitive programming and also worked in IT industry for couple of months and learned the art how not to pay an iota of attention to what was being taught in school but still manage to maintain good score.

That’s all about me, will MIT or Stanford will accept me someday and provide me with a financial aid as / I cant afford these schools

Thanks for taking out the time to read.
Waiting for your warm reply,

No one knows. Work hard and apply to find your answer.

your ec sounds really good and unique. how about your sat/gpa(or ranking)

@Baudrillard123 I will give SAT next year And it’s confirm I will get 2350+ ( no worries there) I don’t know much about GPA conversion currently as per Indian standard my percentage is 90 in CBSE board it would be great if you converted it

@Baudrillard123 thanks for tell that sir but do you think I will get a financial aid?

SAT is now out 1600 and not 2400. If accepted, yes you would get financial aid but it is up to each school to determine your need.

No one can predict your chances so as stated above all you can do is apply and see. Also make sure you have a safety school in your country.

@Gumbymom In My country best schools are IIT but I didn’t prepare for them as I was preparing for IOI but still If not MIT or Stanford will lesser collages like UC or caltech or yale take me ( of course on financial need )

It is beyond disingenuous to call any of these fine universities “lesser collages [sic].” Regardless, you will not get FA at any UC. Additionally, Caltech is need-aware, so your admissions decision may be impacted by your finances. Yale is need blind, but their acceptance rate for international students (like the acceptance rate at MIT or Stanford) probably hovers around 2%.

In your planning, be aware that the UCs have no need based aid for non-California residents. Consider whether they should still be on your list.

UC’s do not offer financial aid to International students so you would be expected to pay close to full fees at around $65K/year as stated by @skieurope. You can apply to all these schools but my suggestion still stands that you should have a backup school in your own country since all the schools that will meet full need are going to be a crapshoot as an International applicant.

2% or less. The first issue is you don’t yet understand what tippy tops look for. It’s not as simple as winning something, writing a book about yourself, or wanting to help people. And the competition from India will be particularly fierce.

@lookingforward Please tell me what tippy tops look for ??
and can I really make into MIT/Stanford or prepare for IIT as competition of IIT is 10x harder that Getting into Stanford but if you get a rank your admission is confirm [IIT are best schools in India ] or should I do something to improve my chances ?

@Gumbymom So you mean U.S people still have a racist mind [ even after emancipation proclamation ] because I didn’t had money to give SAT and AP’s so I worked part time 3 hours daily at a phone repairing shop ??
is all that wasted ?? As If I didn’t get there my life will come to an end as I didn’t prepare for JEE

@skieurope sir what to do now ?? is my life spoiled ?? I am crying …

@Informatics: It has nothing to do with racism. You are an International applicant applying to US colleges with a high financial need so the odds are against you from the beginning.

US citizens pay taxes and are thus are eligible for Federal aid and state aid (if they are residents) for which you do not qualify. Only a few colleges/universities in the US are need-blind and meet full need for International applicants and they all happen to be extremely competitive schools. Also if you want to be a competitive applicant, then you have to meet the requirements which means taking the SAT and SAT subject tests. AP classes are not required especially if they are not offered by your school but you have to show these schools that you are taking the most rigorous courses available to you. You will be evaluated in the context of what is offered at your HS.

You need to keep all options open and not pin your hopes on the most competitive US schools is all I am saying.

“Please tell me what tippy tops look for ??” Sorry about this, but they look for kids who can dig and figure that out, from the info that is available. That drive and follow through, among other things. It’s not winning something or thinking you’re special versus others.

And a US public/state university, supported by it’s own state taxpayers, is under NO obligation to fund out of state students, much less international. It’s naive to even consider this is racism.

You have a lot to learn about how this works. Read what top colleges say- and show.

@Gumbymom I prepared for IOI till 3 years studies algo and data structures what people learn after getting into collages , finished discrete math I am broken can’t text as well

This website might help you in getting help/fee waivers: https://educationusa.state.gov

@Gumbymom my small brother is in 8th grade now he is in govt school I wont tell much about it as you know condition of Indian govt school { all smoking and bad things happen there } he also wants to study in Stanford Should I tell him that its not our cup of tea and make him prepare for jee

@lookingforward sorry to say but I guess you are here to demotivate people [you just introduced a new phrase and say to be like that ] I mean how its like asking x and figuring out y
