umm rank like 20/100
decent essays
good rec.'s
1st gen college bound
lived without parents all of highschool, lived with grandmother who can barley do anything since she is foreign

i dunno what else to put, i just really want to get in.

hard to tell without gpa
are u a junior? senior?

senior with a gpa of 3.5-3.6 and taking calculus with a 97

were you born in US?

yes, but my parents were not

id say you have a decent chance…your GPA is in range, but not helped by your SAT since your SAT is in the lower half however. i would definently retake it, on top of the SAT IIs…being instate and 1st gen will help you, so as long as you had strong recs/essays, i’d say you’re not a shoo-in, but you definenty have a chance

any other opinions? does it help if i told you i have more EC’s than i listed?

you prob have a decent chance if your 3.6 gpa is unweighted coz ur in-state. i assume since ur a senior that ur app is already in. if your essays were good, it’ll help you. i know one person at my school w 3.7 gpa w/o stellar SAT’s who wrote good essays that got in ED.
are you by any chance URM?

URM? what does that mean?

under-representative minority excluding Asian though. boo

does being first-gen improve one’s chance a lot? what if you have two bachelors parents but they can’t speak english? this is actually my case. =/

1st generation is considered in UVA admissions…
as for the parents, if you’re a minority, then you’re a URM…if you arn’t, then it might be a hook, but most likely not if you speak english…if your first language wasnt english, it too might be a hook, but not a large one since UVA has many internationals

no i am not a URM, i only wish.
But i did do this stuff:
Varsity Soccer, 9th, 10th ,11th and 12th
Varsity swimming-same years as above
varsity track- same years as above unless something crazy happens

earned varisty letters in all

scholar athlete
and worked in the play for our school all four years

does that help at all?

oops no i am a URM, asian…if that counts i didnt really understand the explaination

so are you an asian?

Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, etc. are not under-represented.
