change major after transfer?

Currently at CC with 3.5 GPA. International Student. Was econ-major but thinking about switching to Comp-Sci.

What would be my chances for this major at any UC institution with this GPA? Can you apply as an econ or anthro major and then switch to Comp-Sci?

I cant tell you about particular UC chances, but you will have a tough time transferring to a top tier school without coursework in the major unless you have a really great essay and above average stats which is not out of the picture in your case. I do really believe that you have a shot at UCLA and a far reach for berkeley if that is all your loooking at. otherwise the other schools are all in the realm of possibility but you should do some research for transfer info in ur particular department of interest.

Thanks. I did hear that CS at UCLA is like impossible without 3.8 GPA… With a 3.5 GPA which UC institution would accept me as CS? Also, how is USC’s CS major prospect? Thanks!

UCLA will not allow you to switch into CompSci if you are admitted into another major.
