Yikes! Glad I didn’t see this last week :). If they are on a Friday schedule, I guess we’re waiting another 4 days! Did everyone receive an invite to the Holdover Q&A tonight? Such a tease!!! (This is for Dodge!)

What’s the holdover Q&A? Won’t see D24 until late tonight, so I don’t know if it was received.

Chapman posted the SAI based aid calculator for admitted students. I think it’s great they are doing this.

Have honors college invitations gone out yet ?

I am not sure if there is an invitation process, but if your student has been admitted, the website says the application is available on the admitted student portal. We are still awaiting a decision so I haven’t checked personally.

My DD was accepted into Film and Television Production with an area of study in Production Design…we are so excited!!

Congratulations! My son was just rejected and he’s pretty devastated. Happy to hear that others received great news. It’s a wonderful program.

So sorry. We are right there with you. Wishing for healing and other good options for your son.

Daughter rejected as well for film/tv (editing) Wish it would have been tomorrow. Hoping second choice major will be an acceptance as Chapman is still the favorite.

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter. You mentioned the second choice major…was that referenced in your daughter’s letter? My son was rejected without mention of his second choice major…

Yes, it was in the denial letter. It said we are sorry we cannot accept you into your first choice major, but would like to consider you for your second choice. A set of instructions for submitting supplemental materials was attached.

Sorry to hear your letter did not discuss the second choice. Also,I don’t know what your second choice was, but it might be worth mentioning that on our Dodge tour, they said that if a second choice is outside of Dodge, Chapman likes students to communicate that they still want to be considered because so many students only want Dodge. I don’t know for sure how/when that is communicated though because our second choice was in Dodge. I would guess maybe through the AO? Best of luck on whatever lies ahead for you.

Visiting Chapman admitted students event today. Any recos for student hangouts or popular places? We’ve gone to nice restaurant yesterday, but looking for things that are more student friendly.

Because… well, guessing students go to less touristy and less fancy places.

Thanks in advance!

Mystery solved! I checked his application and he didn’t select a second choice. It was film production/directing or nothing for him :). It’s always tough when it’s your kid. His short films are beautiful and he’s already won awards for them. Who knows what schools are looking for. Fingers crossed for you! Onward!

Thank you! It is tough when their heart his set. The second choice process has us pretty nervous, too. The initial application had a supplemental question for second choice but seemed to indicate the whole app wouldn’t be required. A major essay had to be pulled together in just a few days once we found out about second choice consideration. I wish she would have known to have it ready just in case. My daughter absolutely loved everything about Chapman and would have chosen 5 majors if she could. Hopeful and anxious now while we wait. I am going to trust things are working out as they should but know how you feel about hoping for what your kid wants.

I have no doubt things will work out for your daughter! I must say, the Chapman application process is brutal! I’m sure she will write a wonderful essay! I have a feeling they require additional material to determine who is committed, but it seems hopeful!!!

To your point about the commitment determination, have you guys (kid or parents) attended any of the Chapman college info sessions, had a campus tour, or anything like that? Demonstrated interest is very important to colleges nowadays, especially when a student can apply to 20 colleges.

My D got deferred early action for the writing for film and television major. Is there any chance of her still being accepted to that major?

Yes we did. If you look on Chapman’s Common Data set they do consider Demonstrated Interest. Since it was/is my DD’s #1 choice…we made sure to do all the ā€œthingsā€. Luckily, she was accepted to Film Production major.
