I have to pick one of these authors and choose any one of his books to do an independent reading project for my AP Lit class. Any suggestions?

I prefer Dickens. You should start with Great Expectations…good read.

I would go with Charles Dickens. A Tale of Two Cites is good:)

I wanted to read great expectations! But our teacher recommended that the book be about 300-400 pages, but a tale of two cities falls closer into that range haha

Great Expectations isn’t that much longer than the recommendation…I think it’s around 450 pages. Plus, A Tale of Two Cities is way longer…if I remember correctly…

^You’re right. Sorry OP, I didn’t know there was a page limit. I’m not sure how many pages are in the smaller font, but with the larger font, A Tale of Two Cities has around 500 pages.

dickens is better than twain in terms of “literary merit”

dickens is also better than twain at writing enormously unrealistic characters [see: almost everyone in a tale of two cities]

^Ha. Agreed.

I love Charles Dickens
Actually I just bought Great Expectations from Chapters yesterday.

Don’t forget about Oliver Twist!
