<p>geez, k. fine. i think i need to totally change my view on life. i just hate these things where you are afraid that you are wasting your time/energy on something that’s not going to work. then end up sorta slacking off and not put in all your effort, just in case you don’t succeed, you’d feel better and still have some self-confidence. but then you fail anyways and might have succeeded if you’d done your best. anyways, not sure if anyone follows my logic. but yes, just do your best.</p>

<p>My son is in 11th grade at a good U.S. boarding school - native English speaker with some Spanish. 230 PSAT. He is presently trying to decide about college - Pepperdine, Claremont McKenna, and Pomona are high on his list. Some of his Asian classmates have been telling him about these two schools:</p>

<p>ummm… 2300? cuz 230 is impossible… they cut off the lowest 800 and the highest 800</p>
<p>and US boarding skool is in the US right?</p>
<p>and yea, i know nothing about hongkong skools but anyone can have alot of fun in hongkong</p>
<p>The new SAT has three sections of 800 each; critical reading, math, writing; so 2400 is the top score. The PSAT is the same, except the scores are divided by 10.</p>

<p>i feel that he should still go to the us higher education let it be CMC, pomona or pepperdine.</p>
<p>for one, the hongkong system is mostly british, he will need some significant adjustment etc. and another, i personally just don’t feel that the two hk schools he listed were simply as good as schools like pomona or cmc. it is cheaper to do three years of college in hk, but considering that he’s us resident and he probably doesn’t need too much an aid reflected in his private boarding background, i would say he should still apply to us schools.</p>
<p>yea its usually hongkong students that’ll pay high prices just to goto skools like picotech</p>
