Choate - Area Restaurant Recommendations

Hi Choate Parents, Alums, Students, Etc. We’re Andover parents heading to Choate on Saturday to watch Andover play Choate in soccer. Any recommendations for dinner nearby? Please be honest and nice–we’re celebrating a birthday with the grandparents. I hope I can return the favor if you ever visit Andover. Thanks

I’m sorry I personally can’t be of any help to you, but I found this on Choate’s Website.

That link is a great resource and will get me off to a good start in my search. Thanks

J. Christians on Main Street. Just opened this fall. Getting good reviews.

Hi NewEngland Dad,

The list that MarkAlex provided is a good one - but “special occasion” restaurants in Wallingford are a bit wanting. Haven’t yet been to J. Christian’s, but I’ve heard that Choate faculty sometimes frequent Michael’s Trattoria if they want something a bit nicer. If the students go out, Archie Moore’s is a favorite – traditional pub food, but decent. Decent Japanese resaurants can be found about 10 minutes away. You may want to look to New Haven as well for something special – it’s only about 15 minutes down the road.

We’re also heading to Choate on Saturday for “Andover Day” …so see you in the crowd!

Thanks to all for the tips. We’ve selected a spot and will post a review.

See you at the game.
