Choosing undergrad business schools [admitted to IU, Purdue, GT, Rutgers, Binghamton]

Kelley vs purdue business vs georgia tech business vs rutgers buisness

Lots of great options. What career are you trying to prepare for (I know it’s early)?

Am I correct to assume you don’t want this to be a financial discussion but instead focused on the academic and career opportunities of the schools you highlighted?

Have you been accepted to all of these?

Congrats on the great options.

Are all comfortably affordable (no hardship, no or minimal loans)?

Do you know what area of business you would like to study?

Have you visited? Do you prefer any campus environment?

It depends what you seek. Are all good choices. What state are you from
? Are all affordable ? Ga Tech abd Purdue may have more quant like opportunities. Ga Tech is in city. Purdue akd iU are an hour each side of Indy, both nice towns. Rutgers is in range of NYC.

Not a bad choice but are all the best for you ? Btw Kelly is huge, Purdue half the size and you can check the other two.

If you have already been accepted, you will probably receive better responses if this thread is moved to the Compare College Options forum.

Which one is the most affordable for you?

Which (if any) are direct entry? For those that require a separate admission process, what percentage of applicants are accepted? What is the fallback plan if you’re not accepted into the program?

Somewhat equal, but for different reasons. Need to know more about you to help you select.

Are you a Jr contemplating applications, a senior admitted to all of these, or a senior hoping to get into all of these and trying to have criteria to decide?

Need additional information about your career goals & cost for each school.

OP’s name has 2025 so I think this is an admitted student.

Yes thats true. My son has been accepted direct into undergraduate business in all these plus suny binghamton starting fall 2025.

As of now he is thinking finance major but might do marketing instead or as a minor

His dream and goal is to start and run his own business at some point in a few years after school.

Finance/marketing.

Planning to visit these in march/april

After you visit, you’ll know.

If he doesn’t have a designed path/industry, hopefully he’ll develop a comfort.

He might ask each about what type of entrepreneurial activities take place each year., businesses develop etc.

Good luck.

I would lean on finance as the major with marketing as a minor (or maybe entrepreneurship - more and more B-schools are adding that option). Marketing majors who I know seem to struggle finding a job after graduation more so than other business concentrations.

I finances aren’t an issue, we have a close friend who graduated from GT’s business school and does very well as a consultant. They are based in Atlanta - so that’s another thing to consider - geographic location and where you son wants to end up living post-graduation. When colleges have their business fairs for students, many of the companies who come and recruit are from nearby cities. Your son can always search on his own for companies located in other cities where he might want to live, but it takes a bit of additional effort by the student (my daughter searched on her own because she didn’t want to end up in Washington DC, which was where many of the companies at her university’s business fair were from).

Yes

Thanks a lot, very helpful!

Is kelley’s large class size a major disadvantage? Over say Purdue?

Any feedback on Suny Binghamton school of business?
