I only just noticed this today so I’m not sure when it started, but when I load CC in Chrome, I get a warning icon in the address bar that says “This page is trying to load scripts from unauthorized sources”. This is what Google says about the warning -
Manage warnings about unsafe sites
You’ll see a warning if the content you’re trying to see is dangerous or deceptive. These sites are often called “phishing” or “malware” sites.
Get warnings about dangerous & deceptive content
Phishing and malware detection is turned on by default. When it’s turned on, you might see the following messages. If you see one of these messages, we recommend that you don’t visit the site.
The site ahead contains malware: The site you’re trying to visit might try to install bad software, called malware, on your computer.
Deceptive site ahead: The site you’re trying to visit might be a phishing site.
The site ahead contains harmful programs: The site you’re trying to visit might try to trick you into installing programs that cause problems when you’re browsing online.
This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources: The site you’re visiting is not secure.
Download with caution: Some sites try to trick you into downloading harmful software by telling you that you have a virus. Be careful not to download any harmful software.
I do use Adblock Plus so maybe that prevents stuff from actually loading, but this is still very concerning. Any thoughts on this, @CCadmin_Sorin ?
@patsmom , thanks for reporting! Can you please let us know which page you were on when you got this message?
Perhaps related to those malicious mobile ads that open a different webpage without you clicking on anything?
@CCadmin_Sorin , I get the warning icon no matter which CC page I am on. I’m on a laptop using Windows 10 and the latest update of the Chrome browser.
Just for kicks, I also tried loading CC in Firefox. When I click on the little circle with a letter i inside next to the green padlock in the address bar, I see the message "Firefox has blocked parts of this page that are not secure). When I then click on Learn More, it takes me to this page in Firefox support -
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mixed-content-blocking-firefox?redirectlocale=en-US&as=u&redirectslug=how-does-content-isnt-secure-affect-my-safety&utm_source=inproduct
I can’t be the only one that’s seeing these messages in Chrome and/or Firefox. Doesn’t anyone else see this?
I see the same “Firefox has blocked parts of this page that are not secure” message under the same circumstances as reply #3 , when browsing this thread (i.e. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/2052167-chrome-browser-warning-in-cc.html#latest ). This is with Firefox 58.
Is there any update on this issue? Seeing the same thing on any CC page in Chrome.
