Cindy McCain

Personally, I love to see Cindy McCain as it reminds me of the elegant, perfectly polished woman I’d love to be, alas.

Astrophysicsmom – your comments seem low and irrelevant; however, you did manage to get a few bored folk to reply. Glad someone introduced you to Wiki!

zoosermom…McCain a “stud muffin”!!! LOL.

OK, I’ll go off and be low and irrelevant elsewhere :D

Errr… IMO, if ya call someone’s comments “low and irrelevant”, you’ve probably got a bit of work to do to be considered “elegant” or “perfectly polished”…

Well, it’s worthy of aspiring towards. :)

^^ You got that right, mini. Good starting place… diplomacy :)

Not too many interviews with Jackie Kennedy where she calls someone’s comments “low and irrelevant”, especially when they’re just making small talk in a public forum…

Quareidfaciam, why the hatin’? :)

Newsweek is reporting that there might be a few moth holes in McCain’s blanket denial. Among other things, at his press conference McCain denied speaking to any Paxson-related persons. However it seems that in a deposition about this matter some years ago, McCain’s testified that he did meet and/or speak to Paxson about this matter.

I don’t have a dog in this particular fight, since it doesn’t strike me as anything other than Washington as usual. But I’m not impressed by giving info at a press conference that might be disproven so easily by written court documents.

“zoosermom…McCain a “stud muffin”!!! LOL.”

I was giggling like an idiot when typing that. I still think it’s hilarious.

“I don’t have a dog in this particular fight, since it doesn’t strike me as anything other than Washington as usual. But I’m not impressed by giving info at a press conference that might be disproven so easily by written court documents.”

The cover-up will get you every time.

He’s disqualified from the Presidency in my book (and I actually would have considered voting for him if Hillary were the Dem’s nominee), not because he was in bed with a corporate lobbyist, or because he is in bed with corporate lobbyists, but because he failed the lying test - he’s just not good at it. And after three Presidents in a row who were terrible at it, it’s time for a change. ;)

mini: only “three”? Have you been in a 40-year sleep? :)

Oh, no. I thought Ronald Reagan was GREAT at it. That’s why he is so beloved today. He had folks believing in the Laugher curve, and in balancing the budget by purchasing obsolete military equipment, and in supporting the use of chemical weapons by Saddam Hussein, and in funding the Contras through Iran at the same time. He really was a superb piece of work

McCain is disqualified from the presidency, in my book, because of his flawed character. I’m not referring to the cheating on his ex-wife with his current wife years ago, or the lies he manages to get away with about his lack of lobbying ties or past associations with illegal activities. The one thing I will never understand is how a man with the stature of McCain could make a public joke about a teen-age girl’s appearance for the sake of a laugh. Granted it was years ago, but the man was in his 60s. To me, that was mean and dirty and said more about his character than any extramarital affair.
For those of you who don’t remember, it was the joke about Chelsea Clinton and Janet Reno. I won’t repeat it here, but it’s easily googleable. I think he’s a sick man.

I am pleased that Chelsea has the last laugh. She may have had an awkward stage, but she has blossomed into a lovely young woman by anyone’s standards.

A Wahington insider who I promised not to quote says McCain is a loose cannon and could do all kinds of damage in the foreign relations area.

“Bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Iran” a loose canon? One with a mighty mean streak, “my friends.”

bethievt- you work for the NYT??

I found his recent comment hoping that Castro would soon meet Karl Marx was ugly-not that Castro is anything but a bad figure-but I still found the comment in poor taste.

No, but I live in VT–we are lousy with Washington insiders here.

I’m another who would not be voting for him anyway, but I find his mean streak disturbing, and, as others have indicated, he’s famous for this in D.C. The Chelsea Clinton and Castro comments were probably more typical, than aberrations. Interestingly, his daughter who lives in Toronto has been spotted at several events organized by Democrats Abroad.

"The Chelsea Clinton and Castro comments were probably more typical, than "

I’m not confortable with the Chelsea comment, but I completely agree that the world will be a better place when Fidel Castro meets Karl Marx.
