Civil Eng. in FL or go OOS?.

So DS did not get into the big 3 state schools in FL, but has been accepted to (UNF, FAU, FGC) in Florida. and these
OOS Schools (Auburn, University of Alabama, Mississippi State & University of Tennessee).

  1. Best FL school out of - UNF, FAU, FGC- for Civil Engineering Degree ?
  2. Best OOS school - Auburn, University of Alabama, Mississippi State & University of Tennessee for Civil Engineering Degree ?
  3. Other options/Transfer...?

Thanks for your thoughts!

FAU has the larger and probably better recruited program. However, between the three it’s fine to choose the one that’s the best “fit”, be it location or cost.

All of the OOS schools have excellent programs. Choose the one that’s the best “fit” (cost, personal preference, etc.).

Remember, you can attend one of the in-state options, and then, once you’ve completed the first “two” years (60 credits, including credits from AP/DE/IB/AICE classes), you can apply and transfer to UF, UCF, USF, etc. A lot of students do this, simply to save cost.

Thanks for your reply. Our others option is FIT which is close but the cost is a lot like OOS. Worth the extra money?

I’m a big SEC homer, so I like the “big school” experience. However, FIT does have a solid program, and perhaps it’s a better fit.

Thanks we hit the road spring break to visit hopefully something will speak to the soul and the fit will be found. Still waiting on a few more schools to reply but have a great plan so far. Thanks for your consructive feedback. It is appreciated.
