Clark Scholars 2010!

In topology? Maybe you got nirvanatear’s mentor from last year, this guy: [Texas Tech University: Mathematics & Statistics – Professors](http://www.math.ttu.edu/people/proffull.shtml#LIW)

But then again, maybe not! Who knows?

Well, I guess decisions are coming out. I’m looking forward to the results.

tbh archimedes, knowing what proletariat has said that even an actual letter is unusual i doubt that you got a phone call.

Congratulations archimedes1!

Oh well, I should start searching for alternatives. My application wasn’t that strong.

@ HitMan: Clark Scholars always call those accepted. After all, there are only 12 of them.

I’m pretty sure I got rejected as well. I guess I’m going to MathCamp.

Hmmm I guess I better start looking elsewhere

^archimedes

congrats, what stats do you have and have you done math research before?

Yes, Clark Scholars calls and emails the applicants. Actually, I didn’t receive a call last year, but a few people (nirvanatear, for example) did. I just got an email.

Anyway, I don’t know if they’re doing admissions all at once this year. The entire process has seemed pretty fragmented…keep on the lookout, guys! And check your spam!

But do they send out rejection emails/calls?

I feel so stupid that I turned down another summer program just to wait for Clarks.

Did they send emails individually last year or was it a general email to the whole group?

I got a rejection by snail mail last year and no email.

Darn, I think my chances are shot. I don’t think they have ever taken two people for mathematics have they?

So noone else have gotten a call so far? I find that hard to believe…

Can anybody confirm that decisions have been made?

looking at the results two years ago, it appears that one or two people got a call ahead of time before the emails and acceptances went out

I got the call last year and the email in very close succession. I had missed answering the phone but when I checked my email the night of the 18th - there it was!

If you get in, don’t miss the opportunity. I think it was very influential with my college admissions. Actually, what matters is how much you take advantage of the program and what you actually DO that counts.

Just for an update, I was in the program last year and got into Rice-Baylor MSP with substantial merit aid and research offer from Rice.

Correction - I meant that I got the phone call/email about SEMIFINALIST notification. After that I just expressed interest in the program but in my particular case it took an unusually long time for them to inform me that i got in. In fact, I had to actually contact them and ask what was up. If you look at last year’s thread you can see my confusion, lol.

I never got any calls, just emails. However, several of the others, like Torcher, did get calls at some point. Basically, be patient.

Nope! It would be really weird if acceptances came out staggered. Last year, all the acceptances came out within a day of each other.

ahhh i hate this waiting… first I got my hopes up earlier today when I missed a call from texas and then an unknown number called around 7:30… all false alarms lol

same… I got a voicemail today… only to find out that it’s from some baby who accidentally dialed my number.

Relax. Those of you who are juniors, this is a very small preview of what it’s going to be like next year.
