I e-mailed the program office and was told the decision had been made. For anyone who did not get it, the decision letter is in the mail.

E-mail, or snail mail?

that’s weird that so few people on CC got in.

The second cut had been made, now there are 30 people remaining on the list and they are going to make the final 12 selection on 4/28. The guy who said he got accepted to do topology is a toll, so math people, there is still hope.

Have the people who made the first cut been notified?

This is veryyy confusing. Everyone is saying different things. I almost want to email them myself but I don’t want to be bothersome.

I emailed them but haven’t gotten a reply.

Because people are getting confused, I will post my exact REJECTION letter (through snail mail).

Dear ChocolateBanana,

Thank you very much for your application to the Clark Scholars Program at Texas Tech University. We received over 180 applications from 30 states and 6 foreign countries and were able to select only 12. It was a very difficult selection process this year and although your application was seriously considered in a second evaluation your application was not selected. Your academic credentials are very impressive and we wish we could accept more applicants. There is also the difficulty of finding mentors for some, as many of our faculty travel during the summer months.

Again, I want to thank you for your interest in our program and for your willingness to take the time to complete the application. Please accept our thanks for the opportunity to examine your credentials. We also want to congratulate you on your scholarly success thus far and express our hope that you will continue your exellence in academics.

Sincerely,
Lynda Durham
Clark Scholars Program Coordinator

So…that is it. I’m sad I didn’t get in, but it’s fine. I wish everyone else good luck! I hope me posting this has helped at least one person!

I believe that all of us who haven’t received any emails were rejected.

Oops, I’ve been emailing Mr. San Francisco…

By the way, ChocolateBanana, when did you get your rejection letter and what state do you live in?

^I got it today in the mail. I live in Maryland.

Guys, stop speculating. Seriously. Relax. The guy who said he got in was probably a ■■■■■. It’s more straightforward than you think!

hmm, pretty sure I’m not a ■■■■■, but proletariat2’s advice still holds.

Yes, the selection process was pretty straightforward. I received a call from Dr. San Francisco followed shortly by an email from Mrs. Durham. I have received nothing in the mail.

lol, archimedes1,

what are your stats?

The fact that he came back probably means he’s not a ■■■■■. Sorry archimedes! But anyway, the rest of you who aren’t so privileged just need to stop overthinking all of this and relax until you get your decisions.

It is reasonable to think that most of us got rejected already. It’s unlikely that all of a sudden they started to send some people emails but choose to send snail mails to other people who were accepted into at least the second round. I prefer to face the reality and organize for myself a productive summer without any so-called summer programs. I can still visit the cotton town, just with a less legitimate reason.

A BIG thank you to proletariat2 and other Clarks scholars! I wish you the best of luck at universities. I feel very lucky to meet you on CC.

Ok… so well 1 person got accepted. Where’s the other 11?

I prefer to receive an email/letter saying that I got rejected rather to just assume I did. I guess I want some closure?

I agree with iceui2. There’s no point in spending tIme worrying about this when there are so many other things coming up (like AP exams). Jut relax everyone. Nothing seems final yet. When the descison comes it comes. And worrying about it now does not morph the formation of the printed ink on that paper one bit. So take a deep breath and go study.

Haha… you’d think I’d be better at waiting for decisions after waiting so long for college decisions… but I’m just as worried/preoccupied/obsessive as ever.

My son got his no letter in the mail today (az). Did everyone receive the “your application was seriously considered in a second evaluation” message?
