Clark University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Yes. We were also impressed with the personalization.

Yes, we were excited to finally have the decision too.

I’m curious about the FAFSA dependent stuff coming out–I’ve seen a few people mention it. Do you know how that works? I was under the impression that schools can’t access any FAFSA info until early February.

Not sure about the FAFSA for this year. D23 was accepted last year but did not attend. You could always call the financial aid office for that information. Her Clark grant was based on FAFSA but they could be doing it different this year due to the late FAFSA release. We are dealing with that right now with the school D23 attends.

I believe that they had applicants complete the CSS this year in place of the FAFSA since the FAFSA was so delayed

Yes, I am fairly certain they used our CSS as they would not have time to have used the FAFSA.

wait-- am i reading this correctly? this is finalist status, right?

At this time, we have offered a limited number of interviews to a select group of finalists. While you were not amongst this initial group, we would like to consider your application during the final round of Presidential Scholar selection in March. We appreciated the opportunity to get to know you better through your scholarship essays, and our confidence in your potential to make an impact at Clark increased even more.

Received same email. I guess its a mass email notifying that you are not shortlisted for the Presidential Scholarship.

And they do have concern that you may not join Clark.

You and your classmates will be embarking on an educational journey unlike any other. I hope you will join us

oh huh–i guess this part was the part i was confused about

That is a very confusingly worded email!

It sounds to me like they might be expecting to issue a second round of interview invitations (or to have a low yield from the first) and so are planning to keep a lot of applications in the scholarship pool.

Yes, I think that is correct, but I can definitely understand the confusion. Maybe @halyardic best to think about it like a waitlist for the scholarship :woman_shrugging:

My child received the same email. I am assuming it was sent to all candidates that did not get selected for an interview for the initial round. The deadline for the RD scholarship essays is February 1, so likely everyone from EA/ED that was not given an interview will go into that batch. It was a long shot Scholarship to begin with but sounds even more unlikely now.

Just curious - do we know if everyone that applied for the scholarship received this same email?

i’m on zeemee and some students in the chat have been asking if anyone’s heard about it, so i’m guessing not?

Did others also get the email from Clark titled: “Whoops! We got a little excited!” ??

This came on parent’s email
