Yeah…Jacobs is not a place to do your undergrad for sure!!!

Is anyone Alive?..

congrats Mandark8!!!..

thread was on 2nd page…

Wat happnd?..

:))
:d :((

i think u guys are busy on ur visa processing. did anyone of u apply for visa? …keep posting guys.

yeah…do keep on updating about the whole visa thing!!!

police report = waste of time (for most)…

CA report = waste of time for scholarship awardees.

i heard embassy is rejecting too many visas…feeling very insecure coz i got very mere scholarship and the colleges is not well known. don’t have decent bank balance as well. God plz help me…

ok…regarding this whole visa thing…I will shortlist some of the key documents needed for the visa to my knowledge

: A decent bank balance plus the statement from the employer or even the asset evaluation (conditiional though)
: Relationship certificate or “nata pramanit”
: No objection letter from the ministry of education
: I-20
: 2" by 2" inch boderless photos taken beside plain or white bachground
: passport and the citizenship
: immunization certificate ( I don’t think it is that necessary)
: Police report (again not necessary I guess)
: translated citizenship certificate (heard it somewhere)

To my knowledge…these are the documents that are primarily required…do keep on making changes to this list so that all of us could be more clear on the actual requirements…

now since it’s the visa application scenario…let’s make all our lives easier by sharing virtually any kind fo relevant information…

so has anyone started the visa process after all?..Or am I the only one around here who is so concerned?

I did not have both but still got away with it. However, later I came to know that the letter from ministry is very important. While in the Kathmandu airport, I was asked some questions because of it. Good luck to you all…

so does that mean the rest are all ‘firmly’ necessary?

do share your experiences…it could be of great help to everyone!!!

My case was different. The consular saw nothing but my I 20 and let me out in 2 min when others were having 15 min sessions. I can tell that my bank balance was not looked at because it was in a sealed envelope even after the whole session - he did not open that envelope at all. All he said was congratulation and I should be proud and bla bla. He asked me what i wanted to study after confirming my visa (just a friendly chat). And I said I am not decided yet and that was all that happened. I wasn’t all that happy tho given that i was going to a not-so-known college.

However, it is better to go all prepared. If you have time have document to back up if you are asked strange questions. Being ready is the key and as for the documents you all know it all.

thanx buddhaforever, it was truly inspiring ( at least for me)…keep posting these type of stories. Shail619 and some other guys like shailesh, etc who got in top schools with very huge aid…shouldn’t worry about visa…u r guaranteed.

I guess we shouldn’t stereotype coz that might cause complacency…so always good to be ‘at our toes’…

my point!!

u r right shail619…

I took nothing besides the ones specifically listed on the US embassy document list. A lot of people do more than is necessary. But I guess it is always better to err in the side of caution.

I had a similar case to that of buddhaforever, except that my documents were not sealed. Basically, apart from your academic credentials, you have to

Show that you are financially capable to attend the university

Show your family ties, so that you will return to your home country

Answer some basic question(no need for extensive preparation)
------why …university,…US,…this major, would you return to your country, if so why? how is your abroad study going to help you in future…etc…

present other required documents asked by the embassy.

Greater academic credentials and good scholarships decrease your interview time and increase the success of visa application. My wasn’t more than 2 minutes as well. I was just asked three why’s.

Don’t worry. Good Luck!
