Class of 2011 from Nepal...lets discuss here

Hehe…talkin bout competition, there are bout 200 applicants per yr from India,n to tell u,most of them are outstanding achievers(i.e.,top in class, good ECs…etc…I m facing a tough competition from my own country…!!!)…

yeah…can’t help it…“land of opportunity” is just too big a temptation for everyone to resist!!!

lol…but, everything is changing…as seen from my obsevations(not me alone…it includes my few family members who hav been to US) n they all has to say one thing…the TREND is changing…soon the lead will be in the hands of Asian countries(i.e.,south asia including India n sub-continents)…so soon the ‘‘land of oppotunities’’ title is gonna shift…

i don’t suppose its the case of ‘sour grapes’ …or is it???

how exactly? just saying what you think doesn’t constitute an argument if it’s not backed with an explanation!

anyway i don’t believe it…at least not anytime soon is that going to happen…

Alright,as u r willing to push this topic then…
As I hav already mentiond that many of my relatives r in US…they hav informd me that the TREND is now reversing(i m not talking about colleges…I m talking bout jobs n all…)…People are preferin this side(South-Asia) for their Jobs n many more thing,n this thing got even more support when Harvard’s Chairman(or who ever is the top guy)said that v really need Asians out here…n to tell u the fact, there is a kinda HAVOC that everyone is prefering this side…n if u dont believe me then,go there urself n find it out!!!(It may not b clear when ur studyin, but it will b very clear when u go out in seach of job…although,US has more money, but, soon enough the Asian countries will take the lead,if n only if the current growth rate continues…

ok ok…sorry for ‘stretching’ this topic…i understand what u mean…China and India are supposedly the future ‘land of opportunities’…and yes…i can see why…

Not only India n China…there are Japan,Singapore,etc…
Shail619:Hav u given SAT2?

you need more reliable sources than your relatives in the US! and for you info, many people looking for jobs think they are losing jobs to outsourcing and all. but there is more than that to the story. you study the whole picture in college. we study world/asian economics and how it is going to change, what impact it is going to have in the world economy.

<a href=“Yale Global | Yale and the World”>Yale Global | Yale and the World; check this article out. instead of imposing my opinion on you, i’ll let you read some arguments from a professor at UC-Berkeley who himself comes from Indian origins. Asia could very well be a superpower sometime in the future, but it’s not as straightforward as it might seem!

Talkin bout reliability, well 2 of my relatives are in NASA,1 is a proffesor(I dont remember which college it is…may b GIT or CMU)…and many others, and I consider my friends as relatives too(and believe it or not there are over 20 friends of mine in US…)…and I cant get MORE reliable sources then this…
N talkin about the link which u hav given, well,I was talking the SAME thing here,I never said it will happen straightforward(it might happen in about 2020-2025 or may b later…)…n as u hav askd for the reason,I hav mentiond it earlier…;)…

Hehe…and as for the topic ‘‘US should not fear China,India’’…
I hav heard some rumours that Bush has adviced US citizens that start sutdying or else u wont get any jobs…(coz everything will b taken b Asians…)lol…I wonder where ppl get these things from?..lol…

what i mean is, your arguments are just as strong as your explanations and sources are, no matter how true they might be. and relatives in the US is a weak source. an economist’s opinion carries more weight than an engineer’s in this case. your source has to has some sort of authority in the field he is giving an opinion on or should be experienced in it.

anyway, let’s leave it at this. i do wish nepal to be at least literate (99%) and economically sound by 2025!

No doubt US will remain the prime location of education and research for a long time from now. The quality and reputation is outstanding. Yes outsourcing of jobs is a concern for them but for education and research, no other country is near to US.

About Nepal: We will do it by 2025! I hope each of us will contribute… so don’t settle in the US even if you get chance guys…

Cheers!

i have given SAT 2 ISAAC…got 2360/2400…Physics 770…Math 1 790…Math 2 …800

Nepal needs more and more of persevering youths like us…no doubt we will contribute to it…

^^^^^^^Right on, shail619…

yeh 2025 it is. Nepal will make it

yeah…we are one bunch of ‘partiotic’ applicants this year from Nepal…

not only us who are applying, others also have the same feeling for this beautiful country. because we have seen enough blood and lost many of our frens, everyone is so eager to make this place a heaven to live in. btw shail619, how is the weather in Pokhara. Its wonderful to be there at this time of the year. isn’t it?
