Shailesh bro, Please size me up. After what happened to the 600 batch last year, we 700s just have lost our confidence in being accepted to a good college or university.
The stats:
Transcripts: Splendid I suppose, never fell out of the top decile and graduated rank
Essays: Not by best piece of writing but quite good I suppose
Recos: Should be good, who knows anyway
SAT: 1430 (680, 750) here lies the main problem, my SAT 2s are also not that good either
The only ivy I am applying to is for my ED. I really dont want to do another Sarthak turn. Please do help me and suggest some fit colleges.

This thread is getting much more vibrant now.:)

Can we make a list of colleges that dont provide enough aid?
Here’s my contribution-
Lehigh
Bucknell

I am not shail…But may be of some help…
Note:Not even Shail can tell ‘‘which college’’ to you with that inadequate information…

hey bocca

how’s the result of bnks this yr?? i mean in sat.
and what is the story of sarthak??

And how many of u have applied to rd? or still waiting ed?

The results for the SAt are like great (have to say) as compared to the previos years. A guy got 1600 with a total of 2330 and the other one got 2350 ( 2part SAt is bit less than 1600). Then there are 2 ppl with 2200, some more with 2100 and a lot more with 2000. Then there are ppl like me with 1990 hehe. the results are good basically. I hadnt seen this type of results in the past. What say ppl??

Ok that is grt…i also heard about that 1600 guy

what about sarthak?

@BNKS12
which St. johns were you talking abt…there seems to be many…and doest it consider aid to int students???

I was talkin about the St. Johns University. The sites and other sources don’t clearly define the aid there. hOwever, one of my cousins told me I should give it a shot. I dont know what to do.

oh yes, even I know those splendid SAT scorers. Bnks seems to have a lot of competent students this time. But last year’s slaughter was great. I hope it wudnt happene this time

dont mind those spelling mistakes, it always happens with my “fast type”

and do they consider A levels superior to the HSEB and the I sc course? If it does, the guillotine might be waiting !
And what about the colleges which do not give much aid? any suggestions frens? lets just list them out so that we cud find some safeties where we cud apply rather tah wasting the “registry fees” on mails to such colleges

@BNKS12…but hten there are two st. johns university…in ny and minnesotta…which one are you applying to…if its ny then i guess it does not consider need-based and the maximum is 60%,if its minnesotta then the maximum according to the website is around 16,000 where the total cost is around 39,000. what abt st.johns college???
@rena-itsme…US adcoms are more familiar with a level course as it is an international one but i don’t think it is considered superior specially with rising number of hseb applicants from nepal…guess they are being too familiar with nepali education system also…lol

I dont think A levels are considered superior in any way to the other boards.Anyway the final grades of HSEB and ISc are comparatively better than most of the A level applicants from Nepal. So no need to worry about the guillotine.
By the way, anybody applying to Kenyon,E.D 1?

The fat old greedy teachers of TU board never update Isc course…nor is the correction systematic, nor it brings uniformaty…It really affects our GPA…I m really tensed…

sorry…do not mind the spelling mistakes!!!nevermind

karkip, final grades of I. Sc. better than A level applcants!!! You must be joking.

St. John’s College is a lot better option. It is academically very rigorous and has this “great books” program which is really interesting. I am seriously considering this college

However, I do not know anything about the aid this college provides. any input would be appreciated.

dunno abt st. John’s but i’m also expecting posts abt UNIversity of RIchmond. I mean its policy for financial aid to international students. anyone willing to help us??
