9138 hasnt got aid decision from both vassar and haverford…and he is waiting for tufts and kun ho i forgot…
And he will go to haverford…his thinking till now…
About withdraw thing, his withdrawal wont help non G-CARD holders as we have completely different pool…so no benefit at all…not even for waitlisted ones.

Guys has anyone got in trinity c? Or anything from them?

carleton has dispatched all its decisions too… i believe we internationals will be getting an email later this week… again… accepted students will be hearing from fed-ex!!

congratulations to everyone who got in. seems like there are good placements this year. aid is the only problem. i got into bard, with almost full aid.

to those who didn’t get in, i’m sorry. dont lose heart, there’s always next year and there’s always more options available. dont worry.

@puredreams, bnks8
it would be great if u can major in CS. Till date no nepalese have tried that. many seniors came with majoring in CS but had to switch to logistics of EECS and ECE. But CS has the fastest success rate of getting intership and job.

among CS, EECS and ECE for most of nepalese( I am speaking from the view point of all nepalese ) here in jacobs, ECE is relatively easy though we have hardcore subject like DSP and probability and Fundamental EE where passing is a bliss, second years and third years say. CS is really abstract so for we nepalese EECS would be a better option as we need not do that much of hardcore programming and has touch of EE as well. Well u can be prepared for any of these major u have a year to chose and we have home school subject where u can take Gen EE. This will keep option to switch to ECE if u cant handle the pressure of EECS or CS. Talking about last year’s initially there were 13 ECE and EECS in first sem which decrease to 7 and now only 2(shaan bro -bnks, keshab bro SXC) are studying EECS and 3(anjal, ganesh and bhaskar bro) ECE. this year there are 5 studying ECE and 1EECS. But i say u EECS is really challenging and CS is totally abstract.

And about math thingi, what can i say if u really want to study, nothing is impossible, but start studying abstract linear alzebra and suffs. Math major people usually AP the course we ECE and EECS have to take. And we know our level of calculus taught in nepal. A lot of preparation and abstract thinking is required. Math is the hardest major in jacobs and is highly recognised. All in all I can assure u that if u are goin for Math major and willing to study first year then there are second year seniors who are willing to run naked in the college severy.( the last line was told by my seniors doing EECS while i joked him about majoring in Math )

But the best thing of jacobs is that u have a year to chose the major and it doesnt make great difference if u plan for one of these major(phy, ECE,EECS,CS ,math). with home school policy u can easily switch to any of these or other like logistics, chemistry, BCE.last year many switch from ECE,EECS to BCE,logistics, physics…

@MCLLLIII
HAHA…atti bal lagyo maths major and senior joke. Bro iM really planning to major in maths because i know its the most interesting subject to me though i dropped out further maths in A LEVEL…there r genuine reasons for that…actually i want to pursue my career in Econometrics but if i get in jacobs i wont be doing it as jacobs is famous for science…readers, plz dont make other senses out of that sentence. So can u please find out the course books for maths major and PM me? And please recommend me some books that can be available in nepal so that it will be easy for me if i get in there. Please help…by the way can i ask u to PM me your identity too???

I think its not fair to claim UWC and Hastings placements as BNKS placements, so I added one more placement of my roomie.

Does not matter what you study, studying something that interests you is an advantage but how do you know if you have an interest in something that you have never tried, so keep your options open.

About CS it does not matter if you have no knowledge about programming, computational math or HTML or anything. The only difference is you have to work harder than other who already know something about what you are being taught. With Jacobs Uni you get frustrated with the level of knowledge of your classmates, you have only done q basic in school and c programming in high school but your classmates did c++ in the 8th grade and they went to high school of computational mathematics or high school of computer science and IT.

my two cents for CS majors esp Jacobs get to know C language, familiarize with c++ and most important for CS start learning SML …mysql etc are specialization courses if you opt for database later, other languages and courses will come when you specialize in software or whatever later…starting well is what is important once you get the feel of CS you will mold yourself to get through it. there will be huge fortune waiting for you on the other side…cheers
