Long time no contact…i was a bit bg with my project. Now, I am going to get treat isn’t it?..I hope u will get your acceptance on JANUARY 26…someone else u know may get in too…hehe

@sarba. I don’t think so. I am sending them all materials by scanning and they are willing to give it a ‘special’ review…LOL…besides, earlier, I had sent all my apps offline there. I just sent them the online apps yesterday…and today Ill send the rest…xD xD xD

But the fact that I should have received the decision by now bugs me. Hope they decide in a week…

Who else for jacobs I and Dickinson??? Count me in and 2 more guys from Malpi.

guys guys, be careful about stuff you post here. some admission officials do check collegeconfidential.

@2014: lol… results r still not out dude!!! don’t be so sure… and don’t give me hopes too mann… we’ll just see when we get them… :)

You have to take me to KFC as soon as u get Jacobs. I’ll be waiting…hehe

Guys do you have an idea as to where nepali graduates from jacobs end up for their masters or even jobs… The gist of my question is : IS Jacobs really up to the standard of American Universities? Im considering to apply to Jacobs round II and since my status quo is rather unusual since im studying in the US right now and im absolutely out of place in my current college? So i just want to know if it is worth leaving an average (well below average) american university and all the amenities that comes with living(and earning) in america. My major concern is that I want to do my masters at really really good school and frankly a bachelors from my current college is going to make it really tough. I’ve heard people from Jacobs end up at pretty solid masters program in UK and US even good colleges in Europe. How true is this statement and if it is so how many graduates from Jacobs end up at those good universities. Any suggestions, ideas would mean a lot. I dont have much time before finishing up my application…

thanks

As far as I know, Jacobs is a fairly strong university. I know that their Physics program is really good… I have no idea about others. One senior is doing EE there and he says that he enjoys the academic environment there (SAT 2100+, BNKS, Class of '13).

^It is supposed to be a good graduate school-feeder, one of the reasons why I’m applying there.

hmm…

I am applying there because (obviously) I love the physics program there :p

Can I know where are u rite now! Which college i mean. If u dont wanna post here, u can PM me…also how much u have to pay, how much can u get from ur family, how strong is ur family financial status. And, i can write everything that i know.

i am a physics major. I love physics but im considering to apply for the EECS.
what about the FA. I heard they slap us with loans. Its not gonna be fun paying those loans off.

i wont say much. just a few words of advice.
Good SAT scores isnt going to help you anymore.
Never go to a commuter school if you want a good social life.
Dont rush to come to the US, if you dont get good placements its better you wait a year(unless you’ve already waited).
Avoid 3+2 programs, you wont get aid. (There are some exception but its too risky).
Apply to some public schools if you have funds,(for ex Texas A&M(totally underrated)- you can qualify for an instate tuition)

Does full tuition include hostel fees, food, books and all?

Lol…i was going to write a case but it seems that u know a lot. Anyway, i just wanted to say u that its better to go to even 4th tier college in US than to go to Jacobs, given that u can afford the amount and you wish to study grad in USA. A DD of mine read from a third tier college in US AND now she is in Johns Hopkins…she is an average student though. And, don’t say that high SAT score doesn’t matter much…YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG. Gud SAT score definitely helps a lot. May be your college selection was wrong.

^
that was for sss42.

yes man…if ur exceptional, sat scores can be overlooked by adcoms i guess…but if ur average joe or even above average, SAT scores do mean a lot…

You are right to an extent, but what the recent trend is showing that SAT scores are being neglected as it really does not give a whole picture of a student. Also, its because of the economic crisis there has been some changes in how colleges admit student these days, now people who are willing to incur the full cost of education will almost certainly get in the college of their choice(if they have an average credentials) this makes competition for the remaining spots more competitive and the adcoms have realized that SAT scores isnt just enough to admit a student.
In a nutshell, good SAT scores isnt going to help you guys as much as it did in the past(having said that its better you get above average scores just to be safe), the good thing is if you dont have competitive SAT scores you still have a decent chance to get into the school of your choice. So anyone out there with awesome scores, dont assume you’ll get admitted to top schools just yet. Just look at the trend of colleges that have made submisson of SAT scores optional. I believe after a few years they’ll probably change the test scoring system with a new one or something else.

Yes ur right i made stupid college choices. more importantly I rushed to go to states when i should have waited. Im paying a huge price now. Thats why I wanted to try my luck with Jacobs. Most people would think im crazy to even think of going to germany after getting in the states but i really need academic challenge and im just not getting it in my current school.

@2014
how many nepali do u think have done the same( getting into JHU from a third tier college). Was she a non-resident, did she funded the cost herself? Im just trying to figure out whats best for me, I do know a lot but not enough. Im quite confused acutally. my situation is lot better than most of the nepali students who come to america apart from the students who get into top schools. So i really dont know if Jacobs the right choice. My currents school is just so frustating, its driving me crazy. So need more info from you guys. do guys know of graduates form jacobs??

@ssss42
