Class of 2014 From Nepal

Ya…abt SAT scores …
i read an article…many colleges are dropping SAT from their requirements…the reason is that (as ssss42 told) , one is not able to get complete picture of the student…many ppls are advocating this forum…i guess( it was mentioned too) the no. of colleges dropping SAT is going to increase rapidly…
until and unless, modifications are done.

I hope they cancel the SAT altogether.

I hope ACT becomes the sole rubric :p

Really enjoyed taking some practice tests… xD

why do you need my name or who i am. i thought it was supposed to be confidential as the name of the forum suggests. anyways if you think you know me pm me and we can talk. If you need any suggestions do ask me.

for low-match and safety colleges, SAT’s can mean a LOOOOT!!!..for those scholarships…but for highly competitive colleges, i guess all they’re looking for is a distinctive personality…here…even a 420 in your CR is not going to be a kick in ur balls if u possess that certain quality which is known as ‘INTERESTING’…after having been at this college-thing for quite a while now, i guess all that matters is being ‘interesting’…just my 2 cents though!.. :-)

totally agree with with sikthsick. you do need good SAT for safeties. But safeties are bad idea. you guys should hope for top schools. I would not suggest anyone to go to safeties if he/she does not get good placement. Rather try next year.

PASSION baby PASSION!!

That’s what you need. ;)

how hard is it to get into Jacobs…
i know last year was a total disaster to high scorers. I even know of cases where a student got accepted to Brown but rejected from Jacobs. They do look at diversity a lot and only intake certain percent of international student according to their nationality. I wonder where nepali students stand at the moment

^ It all comes down to A-SS-YAY, seriously!

1300+ SATs, 3.5+ GPA, a bunch of ECs… these are the avg stats of Nep. students accepted at Jacobs!

last year a guy of malpi had 1500+ SAT, 4.0 gpa and i hope good essays and ECs but got rejected.
And what abt JUB loans and FA, does anyone know abt these.

Man, don’t be crazy rite now about transfer…relax dude relax. If u wanna transfer, why not BYU? What i mean is DONT TAKE THE DECISION IN A RUSH. I know some guys in Jacobs…U can PM me ur identity and i can talk about u with them so that it will be easier 4 u to get help from them.

dude ive considered all options, BYU is one of them, i have a lot of friends there and i might apply there, they have solid business program but not so good engineering program. And well we all know abt the religious background there. But anyways worth considering.
I need to rush im not in the same place as you guys are, I need to make decisions quick, the deadlines are approaching and i haven got much time…

^^ engineering?? why don’t u try some state unis??

@3333
I might try Texas A&M. they have a good program. its still 5000$ per semester and living costs. So im just calculating right know.

^^ the costs reduce for A&M once u qualify for the residency right?? if u are 21+ u can live outside too maybe… and i think A&M pays you for internship or something like that?!! Try MSU too…

@3333
thanks ill look into MSU.
Its good to know you decided to wait. I dont see many people from SXC on CC, I heard pra… got into lafayette. Any other placement from SXC?

^^ nope… not yet… yah! i heard about him too… its sad we got so less applicants his year!!! but lets’ see what happens… i had to wait cuz i didn’t apply to any safeties last year!! he he… but that will not be the case this time… :slight_smile: :)

ya you have no other choice. Apply to college of St. Elizabeth as a safety. they can give you full ride. Only one nepali there. its in NJ, ok school but a womens school if thats ok with you.

Jacob’s loans are just outrageous!!!..according to what i’ve heard…getting in is one thing…tara graduating with $30,000+ on your head is NOT!

btw isnt it too late for safeties now?..i guess all the free rides, full tuitions are gone…n i didnt do a single safety…im frikkkinnng out!!!

@siktsick
i think there are a few schools with FEB 1 deadline. I dont know abt scholarships though. it also depends upon what kind of schools you regard as safeties. there are lots of school with rolling admission system but i dont know if youre interested in them
