about this rankings thingo: personally, i think its great for college beginners…looking at the rankings, you get to know abt colleges (even if nothing abt the college itself, you atleast get to know the names!)…that’s how i started out!..but now, i go for college websites n forums…u start out with these rankings and then look into detail at the colleges that catch you’re eye…if its not what you want, u move on…keeps going on!

^^^
i agree…i started out with USNEWS

@everyone–
can you tell me what do Guidance COUNSELOr write in your recommendations? Do you send CVs also?
For non-commerece students, what are the options in SAT subject tests?

*literature
*US history
*World History (my friend went as far as ordering these books from the US for the history sub tests, dont think they’re available around here)
*Chinese, Hebrew etc etc. (that is, if you know them!)

  • Maths level 1 and 2 would be great options for commerce ppl (although taking both of the levels would be senseless)
    *If you can, bio subject test try garda huncha (if all options fail, chem ra phy bhanda relatively ‘easier’…still, garho ta bhaeehalcha commerce students lai)
    ani how many of u ppl here are giving 3 or 2 subject tests?..elaborate on ur choice of the no. of sub tests please!

shyaat!..i thought unitedacademy asked for commerce line sub-tests!
science ko lai ta tyei ho ni:
*phy
*chem
*bio (eco/molecular)
*maths (level:1/2)
*History (US/World): yo pani koi koi le didaa raichan…provided u have the book to study it!

@united
ani haven’t u taken any of the SATs yet? If no, and if u are not going for any of the ivyies and top LACs then i donot recommend u to take Subject tests, as ur GPA is perfect. But, if u wanna take it, go for Maths Level 1 and Maths Level 2. Tara if u r sure that u can get help from ur friend/s, then SXC ma chorna sajilo 6. U can take any other science subject test + maths 2… Tara help paye matrai yo gara. One dai senior to me, and one of my classmates did same…took physics!! Tyo pani on the spot mero sathi ley ta, and score 750 ho ki 770. U dont need time for maths 1 and maths 2 as far as i have experienced. I took Maths 1 on the spot without even knowing the sylabus for it. And it will take u just a few days for Maths 2…may be 5 days. The choice is urs…i again repeat dont take SAT2 unless u r going for high reaches.

Tyo tha huney bhaya ta bhai halthyo ni!

frens does talking AP exams increase our chance of gettin into top tier colleges and universities???

senior brothers, do you know any university offering a degree in graphics designing that offer full aid?

okay, this is my first day, so to say. i have not even registered for SATs nor TOEFL. i’ve been reading older posts (finished 35 pages so far) and i’m all confused and panicked. Will i be able to get into class of 2014?
also, my average GPA is around 3.75. but i have a strong ECA. what kinds of colleges should I apply to(i cannot fly unless i get near-full aids)? i’m interested in LACs and as I said earlier, it would be great if i cud get into Graphics Designing class.

@rijan maharjan
register for SAT nov.
i think the oct registration is over.
and be sure to see whether the colleges ur applying to need SAT 2 scores or not.
and register for them too…for dec maybe.

I dont thin vassar has limited aid for internationals students. I think there are about three nepalis in class of 2012 all with nearly full aid. If you see the amount vassar spends on international students ( which you can see in its collegeboard profile) you will see that it spend a hefty amount compared to other colleges…so vassar would not be a bad choice
