@gary -Lol chanced

YIPEEEEE. I dug up the phone number of a Pton alumini in my area Took a fair bit of social networking, googling and lucky friend’s dad.

Yay I’m so excited that I know what a Circadian rhythm is. :D

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

(Yeah, I don’t know, weird mood. Haha.)

BROWNBROWNBROWNBROWN.

Edit: Go Gaurav!

*** I GOT A PRINCETON INTERVIEW.
I SHALL REPEAT WHAT IVE ALREADY BEEN RANTING AT GARY:
oh. emmm. geeeeeeeeeeeee.
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

'Morning.

I came here to check CC for a bit, and are apparently involved in huge fights in the Princeton and Harvard subforums! Haha! I get a bit argumentative at night, apparently.

BROWNBROWNBROWNBROWNBROWN.

Now that I have fever and have nothing to do for a while, I shall waste all my time here!

I am SO depressed.

My friend and 7 others just got a Princeton interview. He lives like 20 minutes away too. I am so screwed. Probably didn’t make it past the first round (gary stop gloating) I am happy for him but damn.

What?! You know 7 people that apply to Princeton? HOW MANY applicants are there in India/Malaysia etc exactly?! Then it must be incredibly, incredibly selective… (Not to discourage you or anything :()

@GB - I KNOW!!! I was shocked there were 8 other applicants in my area alone. Of course, our area tends to be at the middle/upper end of the economic spectrum so more people are aware of opportunities overseas. But still. 8! Asia is a tough place to be applying from I tell ya. The international schools, I’m sure, are responsible for these huge numbers though. I only know one of these 8 though. My friend said he and 7 others were going to be interviewed in succesion.

Yeah, that is pretty bad! I just read that on average, Harvard takes 5 Indian applicants every year (assuming they all matriculate), out of how many? 200? That is insane.
Here it is more like, 2 out of 20 or something. I have no idea actually.

EDIT: Lets start a hate club against Bilguun, who competes only with… himself.

EDIT: I know they don’t look at countries specifically, but again, I am sure geographic distribution is an important factor.

5/200 is better than MIT, as far as I know. Brown is better with Indians. 22/~250 last year.

Here its like 2 out of 70.

Which is like 2/70 * 100 = about 3%

Indians I have no idea how many applicants but say its 200, I think they take 5 each year though so its like 5/200*100 = 2.5%

Being from an Asian country kinda sucks when you’re applying to Harvard.

I’m an effin politician One who plays politics over gtalk <_<
(ignore this)

About Princeton, yeah, I know like 10 people myself. The worst part is that unlike Brown, MIT etc. both the sciency geek and the well rounded category apply to princeton(its so dan awesome!). Also, gappy, I wouldn’t care to gloat coz the interview doesn’t count for much in any case, but anyways “HA” :P

Guilty, lol. It’s weird but it might be true! There probably are Mongolians applying from other countries though. I found that both Mongolians now at Harvard are basically not Mongolians since they almost haven’t lived in Mongolia. Those students are at huge advantage because they’re Mongolian while having been provided with all the good resources that helped them achieve lots of stuff. On the contrary, resources I have here are… not that good.

Gappy, Princeton website says not being interviewed is not indicative of your chances. Is that different for international students?

On a different note, I am studying for Maths II right now, I am using PR right now, but I also bought Barrons, I have yet to sort of start… (I know), which book do you advise? If I really want a 800 or something high? (I don’t mind not sleeping.)

Also, if geographical location is a factor, I guess lucknow/UPs suckiness works for me I’m pretty sure I’m one of the best applicants from UP. But I’m pretty bad by the metropolitan standards

@GB - I think its better to study from both. But I’m just speaking from my own experience.

Oh and Harvard says it doesn’t matter either if you have an interview or not but that changes for international applicants from certain countries so I’m not sure about Princeton.

Maths II- I used Barrons, so Can’t compare. But PR for chem was better than Barrons for maths :P

Guilty, I think PR is kinda easy. Barron’s is way too hard and overprepares you, but if you’re not freaked out by your scores on Barron’s test, go with Barron’s; the real test will be a breeze.
On a sidenote, Math II is really easy. I don’t think you’ll have problems with it.

Barrons covers a lot more than the actual test asks (you don’t need most of the stuff from conic sections, for example). The best thing is a happy medium between PR and Barrons.
