channels Blasted n key

Since our school takes pride in having more NMSFs than any other TN school I hope they are on the ball about this!!!

Good for you, mmfrymire. What an honor to have a school view it this way.

@grammargal, I just wish that made this waiting a little easier! Good luck to you and your S/D!

If the PA cutoff is 211 (aka, not going to happen), I am going to LOL so hard.

What? It’s almost 7:00 AM, doesn’t anyone have mail yet? I’m tempted to post the blank list in anticipation. We have to get something today, right? Maybe we should wait for that first score. Who will it be? Come on PA! Off to work, .

On my end, I’ve tried social media to network w/Homeschooling folks in KS but haven’t had much luck thus far. I also posted a link to this thread over on the CC Homeschooling Board, so perhaps we will get additional leads from that, though we do have a number of Homeschoolers already here.

IF our HS notifies any of the students this week, I will post of course. DS has a 213 and the next highest score is a 217, so if the 217 is notified and he is not, then that tells us something. However, our HS is not known for getting out this info in a timely manner, so that’s why I’m on this thread. Not sure my DS will make the cut, but I’m rooting for everyone as we all wait together!

I can see I’m going to be very unproductive at work today! I really hope we know soon as my S is ready to hit send on his applications and we are just waiting on this!

I appreciate the laughs, everyone. I reached out to homeschoolers in SC; also reached out to a friend in a third state who is a counselor but didn’t push. Are there any homeschoolers from NY following this thread?

Our mail here in PA doesn’t usually arrive until at least 2pm. Our mailman is going to start thinking I must REALLY like him. I have been standing at my mailbox when he has arrived every day since we began “the long wait.”

@luvmygirls, our mailman KNOWS I don’t like him! Good thing I’m not a homeschooler or we would never get that letter! The mailman folded my son’s senior photos, marked PHOTOS DO NOT BEND and stuck them in our mailbox. Twice!

I will be checking here periodically in hopes of seeing something from Texas. Hope the numbers start trickling in! My D is on the bubble and hoping with the additional 10K testers it will result in a lower state cutoff. Good luck to everyone!

While we wait, can anyone recommend an online PSAT test prep? My sophomore daughter does not want to take take the classroom prep class that her siblings took but she is always on her computer so I’m sure she will do an online class.

Interested to hear the same, lessismoremom. FWIW, my advice, if I had it to do all over, would be to take practice tests in the library while an adult times the student, as often as possible. My DD didn’t take PSAT prep specifically but was a couple of weeks into her SAT prep and just rode that.

I’ve mentioned PrepScholar on the parents of HS class of 2016 thread. It’s an SAT prep course but my daughter is just working on PSAT prep for now so she is skipping the essays and will come back to them after Oct. D16 has been pleased with the program and I am thrilled with her progress. I really like that they offer a five day free trial so you can see if it’s something that works for your kid.

My son did the Princeton Review for SAT so he used it to prep for both PSAT and SAT. He signed up for class, went once, said it was too slow and he did the class material online and just went in to class for the practice test. Worked well for him. Taking the practice test was probably the best benefit to get a feel for timing and pacing.

This feels like the movie Apollo 13 when they are waiting for the capsule to emerge from the communications black out.

IT"S HERE!!!
220 in Indiana.

The letter specifically states that it is confidential until Sept. 10.

Congratulations isaelijohjac, and huge thanks for posting.
