***Class Of 2015 NMSF Qualifying Scores***

Met with GC today about another matter. He said he knows. 10 commended, 8 SF. But said he is not allowed to tell until the 10th.

@GoAskDad You have been a tireless cheerleader, information-getter, keeping-it-fun and interesting poster. Thank you for ALL of your posts and from my perspective you have nothing to apologize about for mentioning the Carleton mailing. I would rather have something to consider than just wait in silence. I truly appreciate your openness about your thoughts and feelings. I know you are on the bubble in KS but what is the cutoff score you are hoping for?

We got the Carlton mailing and it was misleading. I’m guessing my DD will miss the cut off by a few points with her 214 since we live in one of the more competitive states. Doesn’t seem fair somehow…

True, people receive materials from different triggers and one can read the fine print on received materials to see what triggered that flyer in most cases. I was primarily addressing post 1636 that if people don’t check the flags, they may be eliminated from a contact based on PSAT.

Wisconsin cutoff is 216 or below. I just got an e-mail from my counselor.

@Goaskdad not apology needed.

Your contribution to this thread appreciated.

@Lessismoremom, thank you for your kind words. My DS2015 always teases me with the phrase “Pause Before You Post…” which is what they tell all the kids in school! I should have called Carleton first before posting, which I realize in hindsight (of course). I allowed myself to be caught up in the hysteria, which is pretty embarrassing for a person who has a half-century’s worth of experience in the world! ;-)

DS has a 213 and that’s the mean for KS since 1999 (per CC), but the cut-off would have to drop by 3 pts from last year (the all-time high for our state). Our friends here who have been forecasting scores all put KS at a 214 or 215, so my guess is that he’ll miss it by 1. Now that I’ve calmed down (ha, ha), I do realize that he has a great score, Commended is a real honor, and that’s the message I need to continue giving him. Thank goodness I didn’t breathe one word about that postcard to him, so he’s going about his day with no expectations. However, he will probably have his answer if some of his peers are called from class throughout the day and he is not. There are @ 5-8 students at his HS who are in the running and he is pretty much the only Bubble Kid. All the rest are higher than he is by at least 4 points, so he will have his answer right there if they start leaving class.

Still waiting for results in Utah. I got an e-mail reply from our principal this morning saying that they had not received results from NMSC yet but they were expecting them any day. My son was a NMSF in 2012 and this same principal got the information to him immediately then, so I am assuming he will do the same thing this year.

Just notified from daughter’s school. She made it with a 218.

I’m sorry I didn’t say the 218 is from New York

Hey guys, my kid just told me this info is flying around on twitter. Need a few people w/ 21st century tech skills.

Do you know what the cut off is for NY?! Congrats to you and your child!

Thanks! Counselor wouldn’t tell me cutoff.

@redraiders, the sound you hear is me Slapping My Head! Of course it’s on Twitter!! Why the heck didn’t I think of that?! Ugh. I am an occassional Twitter Person. What are the hashtags your DC is seeing?!! I will check it out and report back if you can give me some leads. The students are posting there, not here. Duh!!

Texas, where are you? So little news today!

I’m searching Twitter without much luck so far (at least for KS), but I do see some students posting that they are NMSFs (this year).

Don’t know specific hashtags…nor how to approach it. My kid just said I was looking in the wrong place. Specific comment was: “while you’re at it, why don’t you go check your phone message machine.”

Sounds like NY dropped by at least one point at 218.

1660 - The counselor needs to reread his instructions. There is nothing preventing him from letting the students who made it be informed before next week.

@redraiders, I LOL’d at that. Sounds like my kid.

Not having any luck with twitter either
