Yea, is probably all personal networks. This may still be the only central clearing house.

I tried Twitter yesterday and just now to no avail. 218 in NY is a start…need a few more points, pls!

Still no word on Washington DC

Unfortunately not all schools are willing to inform individual students that they made Semifinalist before Sept. 10, even though they are allowed to do so by NMSC.

My guess…as a very occasional Twitter Person/Tweeter/Whatever…is that students in certain high schools are posting results on Twitter, but NOT using standard hashtags like #NationalMerit, lest they violate their confidentiality agreement before 9/10. I did see a few clueless kids out there posting with that hashtag, but I have no room to talk after my own careless posting here! (And I’m sure it probably didn’t even occur to those kids that this was a problem. They are just proud and excited. Do not blame them!)

I will keep trying various angles, but for any Bubble People, I do suggest that you try Twitter if you’re on it because there may be clues for you there.

I’m going to hop over to the Well Trained Mind where I have some new Virtual Friends since registering there yesterday. (They probably think I’m a nut.)

The one thing I cannot do is update our running list. That is something I would definitely mess up for sure! Maybe we have someone here who wants to give us a current cut-off list? I think we have some new scores to report, perhaps? But I haven’t been keeping track of that very well.

Sorry, rest of my post got erased in error! My son is on bubble so I am hopeful that NY and CA look like they each dropped at least a point. Since MA and NJ also had the high 224 cut off last year like District of Columbia, I am hoping those numbers come back one, too!

By the way, in the virtual world under NMSF a lot of great info surfaces re: the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (to a lesser degree the New Masonic Samaritan Fund).

I wonder if the New Masonic Samaritan Fund awards college scholarships…??? :-/

@GoAskDad You crack me up! I live a double life, we homeschool until high school, I have one still at home and two now in high school though none in the class of 2015. My oldest will take the PSAT for real this October and thinks I’m nuts, over the top obsessed, with National Merit. The fact that I’m following this thread probably proves her point! But in an effort to show her that there are other parents even more obsessed than I am, I mentioned public school parents joining homeschool lists just to try to get more NMSF cut info, her eyes widened and she said, “Seriously!” and I thought of you GoAskDad!

In fact have just confirmed they do. Just a small matter re: membership required.

Same!

As does National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, as prizes for best photos at a catch and release tournament.

Slow news day here on the Class of 2015 NMSF thread.

People, I hate to tell you this, but it’s All. On. US. The Well Trained Mind folks have a link to this thread in their NMSF thread, so we need to step it up!

@3scoutsmom, thank you for the good chuckle. I needed that today. Yes, I am the poster child…er…mom…for resorting to any measures when I want to know something “important.” What it took to get DS’s PSAT score report log-in from his counselor before Christmas break last year is legendary in the annals of our high school. But, based on my exploits there, I’m pretty sure they have a picture of me on the wall in the Counseling Dept. and so I’m better off trying to get info here than there.

If my DS knew how much I was stalking this thread he would laugh his head off, or ask his dad to have me admitted. He knows I’m here this week, and I did tell him that some nice folks on the thread are rooting for him - which he appreciated - but yes I am reaching Sanity-Risk-Level and somebody probably needs to shut me down!

But the New Mexico State Fair website is having a record number of hits for some reason.

My son does not have a Twitter account. For the first time EVER, I wish he did! I would ask him to ask the other 2 NMSF likelies at his school if they have seen anything on Twitter, but he wouldn’t want to seem like that kid who cares so much.

Hoping the news picks up here soon!

Changes from 2013 So far (these are NOT final unless asterisked; based on lowest minimums reported to date)

-1: CA, KY*, NY, TX
+0: PA, VA
+1: IN, LA
+2: OH, TN
+3: CO, SC
+4: OR
…
+6: WI
+9: WA
+10: AZ

Nothing here in IL, my D would text me from school if she knew.

GC called everyone in today; nobody at my school under 218 made it. I think it’s safe to say that the TX cutoff is 218. This is essentially hearsay, as I obviously didn’t get a letter, but it’s coming from a GC. Just a disclaimer!
Apparently NMSC doesn’t care about misbubbles, as my 216 with an oops doesn’t count! Haha, oh well, time to move on.
Congrats to everyone who made it, and good luck to those still waiting!!!
