I don’t know, they willingly post their information. What’s hard for those still waiting is to watch a class fill up and see accepted students chatting away about their other options. It could still go either way I guess but this process is obviously nearly complete now and we are watching ourselves cling on and then drop off one by one. It’s difficult.

dancergirl, the National Reply Date to accept or turn down offers is May 1 for all freshmen admissions to undergraduate colleges.

Flossy, I know this is VERY tough. But the process is NOT nearly complete for college admissions. Every student I know is still waiting to hear from some schools and in fact, man schools do not notify of decision until April 1 or shortly before that. I have a daughter (not for MT) waiting to hear from grad schools too and in fact, she must reply with her decision before you guys have to do so. Some people have some options already and some don’t, but nobody has heard from every school already…that is not common.

dancergirl,
Congratulations! Just wondering, are you one of the 26 spots on icpeers?

So confusing. Someone, please clarify:
- There are 26 kids admitted to MT program, and they are all in the myithaca group?
- My status still shows “midyear report” and “audition” in pink on the myithaca site. What does it mean? Rejected?
Thanks!

mtfan15: I don’t know if anyone really knows for sure what is going on. We all know we can “see” the 26 admitted Musical Theater majors on the “IC Peer” page. I don’t think if means for sure no one else is going to be admitted but the director of the dept was pretty clear at Unifieds in Chicago he admits double the amount he expects to accept and that number admitted would be about 26 (for MT and 30 for Acting). I would assume that there will not be any additional students added to the list, but no one can be sure unitl one receives an actual rejection letter in the mai. It is crazy to me that the accepted students are so “visible” especially if one used an identifiable name when they set up their myIthaca account. I don’t know if the Theatre Dept. was aware everyone would be able to access this.

How exactly does the review process work?

I know that the Theater Dept. makes a decision which is then given to Admissions? Does admissions then review the application only if you have been “accepted” by the department?

Any help would be great!

Honestly-I cannot believe Ithaca is handling it this way. In this age of privacy concerns, at most, and sensitivity, at least, I am baffled by the decision to post before everyone is aware of their outcomes. As a college professor myself, I would be ashamed if my institution did this. But this entire process is not designed to be kind, nor is the real world. So onward!

Flossy and sassystage - I feel the same way! This whole process has been such a ride. It is not for the weak of heart.

cjm93MT: The theatre dept. sends a “recommendation” (basically a yes or no) to the general Admissions office and once there, the academic review process takes place (as well as the financial aid process, I think). After all that, you should be notified whether you have been accepted or rejected.

Also, at LA Unifieds I’m pretty sure Lee Byron said the numbers would be more like 32 MT (to yield 16) and 40 (to yield 20) Acting, but I might be off. It’s all such a blur already! That’s why I thought there would be a few more spots left, which might be true since apparently there are now 31 Acting. Hmm. In any case, I’m not holding my breath for this one. Like sassystage said, I think the majority of those who still haven’t heard will be rejections, especially since it seems the 2015 class is pretty full already. Unless there ARE a few more spots open. We’ll just have to see.

Oh I have no idea! I haven’t ever been on the site, I actually don’t know how to get on it.

My son’s myIthaca account just changed today. There was a congratulations box that popped up and said he had been accepted to BFA MT program! It said he was accepted March 11. That is THE ONLY notification he received! His status also changed on his IC Peers profile. And it looks like they went from 26 accepted students to 35 on the IC Peers Musical Theater (not Theatre) majors. So congratulations to the newcomers! He had thrown the towel in on this one! What a surprise!

My D just tried and it says her myithaca account is unavailable at this time…hmmm.

nbmom: Fingers crossed!

My D’s myithaca account changed to audition received a few days ago. If a student is rejected, is there anything on the myithaca account that indicates they have been rejected, are do they just have to wait for the letter?

My D’s account is unavailable also - i called the Admissions office and they said that her file was pulled, that a bunch of decisions had just gone out and we should look for a letter in the mail in a couple of days. So I’m pretty sure that’s a no. :(

Same. Sad. And it’s up to 35 on the peer thing. I really hope it was a close call because my list is nearly depleted. Congrats to all who are accepted.

Just received my letter of acceptance for BFA Acting in the mail.
Did anyone receive their letters yet?
Was there financial info in the acceptance letter or that comes later?

Son has not yet received his letter, but found out he was accepted for the BFA MT this morning on MyIthaca!

Received large envelope today with acceptance letter and merit scholarship notification with a reference that financial aid information will be forthcoming.

Does My Ithaca also notify you, if you have been rejected too?

received acceptance into BFA acting with no financial info today for my son.
