I’m a wizard

Hi CC peers, altho U of Chicago is not my #1 choice, it’s definitely one of the universities I would love to go to.

 1. Korean student studying in Canada
 2. Within 2 days
 3. Like a week or so. Carefully researched about U of C programs and strengths
 4. Yes, listed bunch of books+ other stuff. Picked one of the book and wrote how the book taught me the process of a society being communized and the psychology of the citizens. And then I related to North Korea, the opponent of South Korean government.
 5. The topic you chose for your creative essay? haha this would be awkward but I wrote about my ‘informal suspension’, connecting to Silence topic. I started with a situation in which I was unjustly put in conflict with a school prefect and how I was ‘informally’ suspended without a legitimate procedure just cuz the prefect had such a strong tie with the school. With my SNS IDs expropriated by school authorities, I wrote my experience of forced silence.
 6. In your opinion, which was your best essay? The silence essay, and I’m dead serious. lol I worked so hard not to be emotional or involved in victim psychology.
 7. What you want to major in: Economics… yea probably toughest in U of Chicago
 8. Whether Chicago’s a safety/likely/reach school for you: Altho I think U chicago would be a match for me with decent SAT, EC and etc, but like other Ivys, U chicago can never be either likely or safety school. Always the reach for everyone except for those who has 2400 SAT, gd ECs and LEGACY.
 9. How badly do you want to go on a scale of 1 to 10? I would say 9. I gave 10 to Columbia and MIT

I guess the most interesting essay would come out of Waldo topic. Among those who picked ‘Where is Waldo, really?’, how did you present your thoughts? I thought lot of them would end up being homogenous so I chose silence topic. So, anyone else approached differently to the Waldo topic from ‘Waldo doesn’t exist’? I’m so curious to find out how other approached that topic!

I would have approached it by comparing waldo to something else that’s hard to find in a crowd.

I’m pretty confident my essay is one of the best Waldo responses in the EA applicant pool. Literally everyone I’ve shown it to were blown away by its ingenuity and wit. This includes a few current students as well as alumni. My alumni interviewer basically died when I explained it to him.

If I get in EA I’ll think about posting it in it’s entirety here. Or maybe I’ll wait for the RD decisions to come in. We’ll see :P

^^Not sure if trolling or trolling…

^^ lol I know lot of ppl get proud of their essays but ‘alumni interviewer basically died when I explained it to him’ is trolling

‘blown away by its ingenuity and wit’ - Either trolling or unable to get over oneself

hahaha don’t be so quick to judge. It just might be the best essay…EVER. :stuck_out_tongue:

The first thought that came in my mind when I read the essay topic.
“Minding his own business…really” skip to a better essay topic

Quick question–after submitting the CA and the supplement and the payment to UChicago, how do you go about creating your personal UChicago Account? I haven’t gotten any info. on that. Thanks people :)

it takes 1-2 days for uchi to email the password to you needed to create an account

What are you guys seeing in your uchicago accounts? I only see the supplement and common app, is there a way to check test scores, transcripts, and teacher recs?

I only see an additional portfolio and alumni interview section. I do not see a test score or teacher rec location.

They will be added in due time. It takes a few days to process.

Just submitted my application to U of Chicago. I think my U of Chicago essay was the best among all other Ivy application essays in part that I had lot of things to talk about U chicago’s economics programs. Also, U Chicago doesn’t have any strict word limits which helped me a lot to vividly show the event in the essay in detail. For other Ivy essays, I couldn’t put lot of details since they have word limits. I still don’t think admission officers will ‘die’ or be ‘blown away’ but I think they would be impressed at my essay topic+ my approach and how specially fit I am in economics program in Chicago.

oh btw, here is what I thought about 2400bro. UChicago’s alumni interview obviously graduated from UChicago which means that he or she would probably be very very educated. So as a student, it will be almost impossible to make him or her ‘die’ just with an essay from a high school student unless the student is some kinda writing genius. I just assumed it was an exaggeration.
