do people hear back on the weekends?

She found out on Tuesday on Gibson (6 days after her application was complete). She has a 4.0 W, 3.5 UW, 32 ACT, 7 APs, tons of ECs. She got her letter today and received the Distinguished Scholarship and was offered a spot in Honors Program… very excited!

14wilsc12 - sometimes.

Jocjarmom - Congrats! What a great resume she has. I have to ask, what is a joc jar mom?

Haha, I created that nickname years ago. It’s a mixture of my kids’ names.

Is anybody planning to attend one of those Top Scholars Weekends in March or April? I would sort of love to take her sooner, as we’ve learned nothing helps form your opinion about a college like a college visit, especially a program for Honors Students (she loved our visit to the UGA Scholars Day - we are from GA). Of course, nothing stops us from going sooner, but programs like this are very helpful.

Honors Student Weekends are always well attended. I think the best benefits of going then instead of at some random time are several. 1) Since a lot of the students attending will end up at Tulane, she could meet a potential roommate. 2) There is a specific program tailored to them, including getting academic advising and getting to sign up for all their classes that early (!). Tulane does that even though some percentage will end up going elsewhere. 3) There is an overnight stay in the dorms, which is interesting for some. 4) If he is in town, President Cowen gives a talk, and he is an excellent speaker. Even though he will be retiring in June, he will still be teaching and most find him quite informative and inspirational. 5) Of course, they explain the benefits of the Honors Program, which has recently undergone some changes. I did just see a story that Tulane ranked very highly this last year in the number of Fulbright Scholars they are sending out into the world. The Honors Program helps students obtain these kinds of awards, scholarships and fellowships.

Plus, they get to attend one or two classes, but that is true any time you visit.

@Fallenchemist, you are just a font of information! Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

The other thing I forgot to include is that mid-March to mid-April is often some of the best weather. Definitely out of winter, but usually not into the big heat yet.

DS got his official letter today with the Academic Achievement scholarship.

Dlphnlvr6 I just re-read your post about your son’s academic and community achievements! Congrats on the scholarship! He was very deserving.
Is he definitely going?

Thank you and yes, it was his top choice. He has been in love with Tulane since 8th grade and with New Orleans since he was a small child. He is so excited!

my application status was blank for a long time, then only said "undergraduate admissions (fall 2014), then was blank again for a few hours, then went back to " " again, and now it’s blank again…do you think that means that decision is coming soon? haha, my application was complete on wednesday or thursday, and i know that was a really short time ago, but the wait is killing me

The same thing happened to my login this morning. My application was marked complete and awaiting review since October 23rd, and two people from my school already heard on October 30th, so I am getting worried!

I’m getting this glitch as well…It is stressing me out!

Mine has been blank for about 2 hours. I think it might be an issue with Gibson. My application has been complete since Tuesday, but I’m still hoping that it means our decisions are coming out soon!

i really hope so, too! the “undergraduate admissions (fall 2014)” header keeps popping up and it’s stressing me out so badly, lol.

glad to know i’m not alone…i haven’t been able to do anything but refresh gibson for the past few hours. crossing my fingers for all of us!!

It’s definitely a Gibson glitch. My daughter was accepted last month, and her status is back to blank again, too - so I’m sure it’s a system glitch.
