Class of 2018 Decisions

That is absolutely super, Calmom. Congrats to the family. It will be interesting to see what Tulane offers for merit. How does sis feel about him coming to the same school?

vonlost - I know you are speaking generally, but just so you know Tulane does not have ED. SCEA, EA and RD.

Thanks FC…will let you know.

Congrats calmomofthree! Woot!

Looks like receiving a decision is going to come down to the final week for me!

FC: Do we have to apply for the specific scholarships or is it possible to be awarded scholarship money based on merit/the application alone?

I just joined CC tonight after stalking this thread forever (I’m from PA). I applied to Tulane October 11, my app was complete a few weeks later and I have been anxiously refreshing Gibson for almost two months now. This evening I was ACCEPTED! I’m incredibly excited because I was certain I would be deferred and was losing hope. My scores are nowhere near as high as some of the other applicants, but my involvement in school and in my community is superb, which is what I believe must have done it for me.
GPA: 3.8 UW, mostly all honors/ AP
SAT: 1830 (superscore)
ACT: 27
Student Council President, founded and organized a pediatric cancer fundraiser and raised $11,000+, I sit on the school board as the student representative, Model UN, NHS treasurer, DECA VP, Spanish NHS, Octagon Service Club, I host two shows on our school’s district network television station, Varsity Soccer, interned at a radio station in Philadelphia, plus a great deal of community service
My recs were fantastic, and above all, my interest in Tulane was incredibly evident.
Those of you with lower scores or those of you who have been waiting for a while, I understand where you’re coming from! Just stay positive and know everything will work out in the end!
ROLL WAVE!

Still haven’t heard back, a little disappointing. I e-mailed the person reading my application again today to express interest, hopefully they take i into consideration.

Hopefully I will find out soon next week!

Congrats to all those who got in and to those who got deferred, it’s ok! Try to show as much interest as possible so maybe they’ll accept you during RD. Good luck :)

To those who did get accepted, where on your Gibson page does it say you got accepted? Also, did you get a letter in the mail first, or notification on Gibson? Thanks.

@eastcoastkid3…the Gibson Portal changes from " your application is complete…" To " congratulations…" A letter then arrives within a week or so with official letter and any automatic merit award if awarded…you can also apply to the higher awards before being accepted officially to Tulane…and of course you may get needs based financial aid…but you won’t know about that foR a few months.but we haven’t been too lucky with needs based aid.

congrats, kkeen1234!

You are automatically considered for scholarships ranging from $10K-$30K. If you do get one of these, you find out in the paper letter that is sent after you get accepted. There are full tuition scholarships called the Deans Honor Scholarship and the Paul Tulane Award, and the Stamps Scholarship which covers all costs plus a stipend. These require a separate application and would replace any “automatic” scholarship you may receive. The deadline for these applications is Dec. 15 and you have to have applied EA or SCEA. There is also the Community Service Scholarship, which I think this year went up to $20K which can be added to your “automatic” scholarship up to the amount of tuition. That application is due January 15, if they haven’t changed it.

There are also ROTC scholarships, various scholarships for Louisiana residents, and maybe some specialty scholarships I am forgetting. You can check the Financial Aid section of the Tulane web site to get more details.

kkeen1234 - That is such great news. You have an outstanding record of achievements, congratulations. Best of luck at Tulane.

I’ve always been a lurker on this site, but I made a profile to post in this thread.

I was accepted a couple days ago with an $80,000 ($20k per year) merit scholarship! I wasn’t expecting to get accepted let alone 80k in merit aid! Looks like Tulane may be the place for me… :)

Here’s some stats for reference:
GPA (Weighted): 3.79, 2 honors, 6 AP’s (5 being in senior year)
Test Scores: ACT 32 (English 34, Math 33, Reading 32, Science 30)
EC’s: Lots involved with music (multiple honor bands, jazz performances outside of school, many awards etc.) and Eagle Scout

Again, I’m still honored and astounded that I even was accepted into such a prestigious school!

Bajarea- congrats @ your scholarship is well deserved

bayarea - well done! I think you sold yourself a little short about expectations to be accepted. You have a very solid resume. I hope Tulane will see you in the fall.

has anyone gotten decisions on a Saturday or a Sunday?

Yes, collegebound, gibson does update on Saturday. My DS heard on a Saturday.
Congrats everyone!

JUST GOT IN! found out 10 mins ago on Gibson…

I hope my situation gives everyone with low gpa and good sats hope:
gpa- 3.1
sat- 2030

Of course there were MANY other factors involved but if you want this as badly as I do you CAN do it, believe me

44skier, the mysteries of the admit process! congratulations! great news. good luck.
