@fallenchemist - yes he will be attending a Destination Tulane session. Regarding Brave woman…that would be my wife. I was simply the contributor of the Y chromosome!

@6kids2boxers1cat - Oooops. Sorry about that. I get so used to the moms being the dominant number of posters on here I just automatically go there.

Have fun at the DT event.

@fallenchemist no worries!

I applied RD and I still haven’t heard back from Tulane yet

So I got into Tulane (yay!!) but now I’m super worried about my second semester grades. I think I will finish with a few Cs (probably 3 or 4) and I’m wondering if it’s possible to get rescinded for that?? My transcript only has 1 C on it…

@laney333 - This gets asked every year, sometimes with grades worse than what you are talking about. I can tell you with absolute confidence: NO WORRIES!!! At the very worst you might get a letter during the summer that will say something to the effect that you need to remember that college work is challenging and you need to stay disciplined, etc. Although I don’t think you would even get that if your grades don’t get any worse. Just try to make sure they don’t.

But rescinding an acceptance is pretty rare. There are people that got a D on their transcript and got the letter, but no rescission. I have even seen that at Ivy League schools. Like I said, schools really don’t like to take away an acceptance that late in the cycle. It is slightly disruptive for them, and they know it would be very disruptive for the student. So it has to be very egregious for the school to do that.

Well that’s a relief!!! Thanks for getting back to me fallenchemist, I’ll make sure I don’t get any Ds haha

No problem, @laney333. Not to sound like a parent, and I of course don’t know why you are getting those C’s. But if it is senioritis, I just feel I ought to say that there are a ton of distractions at any college, and Tulane/New Orleans have among the most. It is critical that you set yourself a schedule that balances the academics with the social, and stick to it. Also, there are a ton of resources at Tulane that help students stay on track, from more traditional help with the coursework from TA’s and others, to people that help you evaluate your lifestyle and make suggestions to help you achieve that balance.

That really isn’t directed only at you, it is for everyone of course. You just happened to be the first to present a situation that warranted bringing it up.

The only girl I’ve heard of getting an acceptance rescinded didn’t go to any of her classes but the ones she needed to graduate, and only barely passed those. So don’t make 0’s in over 1/2 of your classes.

Yes, getting that many F’s will do it, not to mention the other poor grades. You wonder how clueless people can be, not realizing there are consequences to these kinds of actions. How could the teachers and administrators at that high school not have intervened? Oh well, no sense getting way off track here.

Yes I definitely agree fallen chemist… it seems I have a severe case of senioritis but come college things will have to change regarding my focus. Thanks again :)
