Class of 2018 (yikes!) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

@Octaviar - We received D’s financial aid package for Pace about 2 weeks ago. I’d call the FA office and see what the hold-up is.

We received the Pace financial aid letter quite a while ago – big envelope postmarked 2/25/14 – followed about a week ago by the “sorry, not accepted for MT” letter…

Called em. Boy am I frustrated! My S got a call from the recruiter encouraging him to apply so that they could make him an offer, so we stayed up late one night getting everything in. Confirmed that it was, then later he got the call accepting him into the program. We assumed there was no problem because he said he had to have a complete application to make the offer of admittance! My son swears he submitted everything and I remember helping him, so am super surprised to hear them tell us they don’t have anything submitted! We sure stayed up late filling things out, creating video submissions, and paying fees to somewhere! Oh the joys of applying to schools!!

Who knows, perhaps we missed an entire section and they just didn’t tell him… funny though, the recruiter keeps talking to my s on the phone?

I am confused about how this all works.

@addicted2MT -

As I saw recently on fb - remember, Karma is only a b$%&h! if you are!

So I guess Pace’s decisions are out…yet we heard zilch one way or the other. Weird.

@MT4Life - I said “she can be”, not that she always is… At my house we think of her as sweet and gracious.

EastchesterMom - Son hasn’t received anything either. He received the financial aid packet dated 2/19, but it didn’t give any info other than what we already knew. Pace isn’t on his radar any longer, but it would be nice to put this one to bed.

entertainersmom - D applied to one of the two Pace acting programs, not MT…she screwed up on that one, but in her defense, it was pretty confusing. She really liked the place, and as I said, the FA was amazing, so it’s still on her radar even without MT. We were told they take only 20, so we’re not optimistic.

EastchesterMom - If they had awarded more merit money to son it would probably have stayed on the radar longer, lol  Neither of us had done our homework either, and son would have loved to have auditioned for the TV/Film/Voice Over program.

@redscorpion, I bet I know the school, and D got the exact same thing.

octaviar - that’s so odd. Wayne Petro came right out and posted on here that admissions would definitely not go out until the application was complete and the student was academically admitted to Pace. That’s my D’s situation as her recommender’s are taking their sweet time sending the LORs in despite requesting them a long time ago. So I have no idea what’s going on with Pace. Ugh.

@redscorpion, @sydsim - I am to understand that the school that offered a wait list academically was the result for all those who were rejected for MT. I guess they don’t want to offer a spot to those who likely only applied for MT and won’t come to the school as a non MT. I guess that makes sense.

@redscorpion,@sydsim,@Ramm1012- we had the same experience-excited for the wait list- until we realized it was for the school and not MT.

Yeah, it’s kiind of tricky how they did that >:)

@MTorBust…re: Fredonia: Yesterday at our HS, my Ds took a master’s class with a cast member of Once (Nat’l Tour). He has been in numerous Broadway musicals, and was just a delight. He’s a Fred grad.

Still waiting on 5 schools-- So far this week, S had heard from no one! Come on, folks!

I’m so confused about Pace. My D was academically accepted with large scholarship but she didn’t get an MT acceptance call…She also hasn’t gotten a letter saying she’s rejected or waitlisted for MT. Which letters have gone out? Rejections or waitlists?

At least some MT rejection letters have gone out – my S got one! So hang in there if you haven’t received anything definitive yet.

@Doremimom We’re in the exact boat. No call, no letter. I’ve read on here, some have received rejections, and at least one has received a waitlist.

I think the letters are going out as quickly as Wayne can get them prepared, @DoReMiMom. There are a lot of letters to go out for the entire Dyson school. The daughter has yet to receive a letter as well.
