@toowonderful, I think what 16bars was talking about is when you have very apparent “favorite” schools and those that were at the bottom of your list. If you are accepted to schools that are higher on the list, you can drop the lower ones fairly quickly (all other things being equal). If you’re juggling several schools that you care for equally, this doesn’t apply.
@shopforpunky You’re welcome!! (At least someone is more sane than not … it’s definitely not me!)
I also wanted to add, if you have a D that declines an offer, if you can direct them our way I would be appreciative. If you can convince them to offer a spot to MY kid … I’ll throw in a pair of LaDucas.
@KaMaMom – you are correct; that happened to one of our fellow CCers in the Class of 2018…we all cried with joy when her D got into her dream school at the last minute, and she’s loving it at that dream school now. I remember Purchase told us last year that they accepted off of the wait list into early August… Those who really wanted Purchase and were still on that wait list put down deposits at other schools…what choice?
@KaMaMom – I empathize with you…I was you last year, but no LaDucas!. I was happy for everyone else’s success, but I ached every day for my D and shed a lot of private tears. Big virtual hugs to you from me…it will work out in the end.
I agree with declining offers quickly as long as you are sure you have an acceptance to a school you would rather attend but it is not a good idea to decline a school if you got a big scholarship offer because you may be able to use that as a bargaining chip to get more money from schools you really want to attend.
My S is first born; so first to go off to college, so still trying to understand everything. To clarify, if he is on a waitlist for a top choice school he could possibly get an offer as late as August. So basically, we would need to pay a deposit on or before May 1st to that school and also to the MT school he will attend if he doesn’t hear from that school. Thanks
@jkellynh17 So if you don’t pay a deposit to the waitlist school, can you lose your admission spot with the school? I guess what I am asking do schools have a limited number of students they accept in the Freshman class (not MT) but total Freshman class at the university.
Just saw a FB post from a kid who saying he got a yes from BW MT. I know he is at rehearsal, so don’t assume snail mail (though I suppose someone at home could have opened an envelope for him)
I know Pace started making calls Friday…do we assume they are done? That would seem obvious, but I’m surprised to only see one CC poster on the acceptance list. Also, does anyone know how wait list and redirections will be notified?
