@tmygirl Is your S auditioning on campus or at Unifieds? Just curious. And @addicted2MT… people are completely thoughtless. But the comment “artsy thing” just indicates their level of understanding of this business and the passion of the people in it. You can just shake your head and say, “Poor thing. She just doesn’t get it…” And LOL on the Harvard MBA. Truly.

My D originally submitted a prescreen for Marymount, and then we learned that the video process was only for those who couldn’t get to an audition, so she pulled her videos from getacceptd and we scheduled an on-campus audition for March 7. It was a little confusing.

@addicted2MT, just say as they say in the South, “bless her heart”.

Hi all, I’m new to posting on CC, but have been a long-standing lurker! I have a question for you experts…my D didn’t get her prescreens submitted until the first week of November. Elon’s website says prescreens submitted after Oct 15th will receive a decision on January 14th. The UMich website says we’ll hear by December 23rd, and BW says we will hear by January 15th! Has anyone who submitted after October 15th at these school received decisions yet? It seems like such a long time to wait!!!

@tmygirl: if it has been a few weeks, I see nothing wrong with your S calling or re-sending the email in order to get his audition scheduled. I’m sure they will be happy to help.

Bogeyw, my D submitted prescreens to Michigan, Penn State, BW and Pace on Oct. 18. She has heard a yes from Pace and a no from BW, no word from the other two. As others have said, rhyme and reason seem to be absent from the prescreen notification process.

Funny thing I meant to share a couple of weeks ago. We all know to have a dedicated email for this process, with a non-silly email address (his regular one references a Disney character). We did that right away. However, we didn’t think about my S’s voicemail message. When Shenandoah called, he was in class so they had to leave a message. He had made his message when he was a freshman. It has very dramatic background music and sounds like a movie trailer. “One phonecall. No answer. _____ ______ is… un-available!” When he realized that Shenandoah had to listen to that before leaving their message, he was mortified!!! He immediately changed it to a more ‘normal’ version.

Oooo. Good point @MTmom2015!

Hi!! So great to meet everyone! I am a transfer from community college…I applied to 5 schools. I’m 5’6", goldish blonde hair, thin, a belter/mezzo and I have been dancing since I was 4! I currently teach dance and perform at kids parties as princesses (Elsa being the most popular lol). I also worked at a regional theater as an actor/intern sunmer 2013:)I am super excited for auditions to get started!!!

Welcome, @BroadwayBaby293 ! Best of luck to you! Do you have any auditions set yet, or waiting for pre-screens?

Thanks @MTmom2015 !! And I am waiting to hear back from Shenandoah, Elon and Pace on prescreens! But I have Wagner and Uarts auditions set up!

For those of you who’ve heard from Penn State regarding the prescreen, how were you notified? Was it through email? thanks, just getting tired of waiting.

Email from Penn State to D’s email (the one we set up for colleges). It only took a week or two. Shannon Ritter in the office is super nice – give her a call if you are concerned.

@mtflmomof1 Double check that your academic materials are in!

Also, has anyone been able to schedule an audition for Montclair? I already got academically accepted a few days ago but have yet to get an invitation for a musical theater audition. I asked them about this and they said to just wait.

I called the Montclair theatre dept about scheduling, because we also weren’t contacted by the university. They were very nice, and sent me the link to register, and then said if we get a duplicate “audition invitation” from the university, then we should not re-register. Only do it once.

My email with the link to schedule the Montclair audition didn’t come to the college email that my D used for the application. It came to my H’s email! Very odd! You don’t need to wait to have all the materials in for the academic app first because my D’s transcripts weren’t in yet. Just got those in, I think we overwhelmed my D’s counselor!

@MTRaleighmom - the transcripts and the recommendations were the worst. Out of your control to do anything but beg, cajole, plead! We met with our counselor in May to give her a head’s up, but the school didn’t finish their reports until the end of September! So frustrating. I like the schools that don’t require recommendations the best. i guess they all need transcripts, though.

Our school uses Parchment for transcripts. So easy. I just go online and select where they need to go. Within a day or two they are approved by the high school and are sent digitally. Around $2 per request, but bigger schools were free.

@attheballet - our Montclair invite to set up an audition slot came to my email (the Dad) just like MTRaleighmom reported, and it arrived weeks after her application was submitted and several days after her academic acceptance came in the mail.
