Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

@attheballet So sorry. That’s got to be disappointing but it sounds as if you have the right attitude. All best wishes.

My D is doing Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at Unifieds. It is not at the Palmer House – JW Marriott? Can’t remember, they are all starting to blur together along with 16 or 32 bar cuts, before 1960, no, before 1965, written by a left-handed composer, one foot tied behind your back, stand on your head, etc. BAL, all!

Syracuse was at the Marriott this year. It was about a three block walk.

Also, Emerson had auditions on Saturday and Sunday.

Ithaca ‘yes’ came through today so that’s all five that he submitted and a ‘yes’ from each. Very relieved. He’s excited.
I realize that it’s all just beginning. First audition is January 24th in NYC - Juilliard. Here we go!

I have my first audition coming up 12/06 at ccm and had a quick question for those already experienced in the audition process: When do you set the tempo of your songs with the accompanist? Do you do it as soon as you walk in, or do you talk to the auditors first and then go over to accompanist? And also, do you set the tempo for both songs before you start singing, or do you set the first one and perform it, and then go back and set the second one and perform it? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, it’s just been on my mind as I prepare

My S says generally (certainly, depends on school) you go right to accompanist and set tempos for both (show cuts, etc). We will also be at CCM on 12/6, so I’m sure my S would talk you thru if you like. :)

@roro101 - if I did it right, here is a link to an earlier thread with some answers to a similar question.

Just catching up on some of the posts here! My, we’ve all been busy bees haven’t we? Trekked out to Ohio for 2 auditions so far @ WS and BW. Good times. Next is Unifieds in NYC. Any suggestions from the folks here for nearby hotels? We’re a little bit behind the ball making arrangements, arg!

Thank you! @MTmom2015 that would be fantastic, see you and your s there! :D

It feels like the quiet before the storm – or maybe the iceberg is up ahead. Waiting around is hard to do and is only going to get worse AFTER auditions. Anyone going to PSU on 12/6? That’s D’s next stop and then nothing until Unifieds! Just getting antsy!

@Divamamacita‌ I’ll be there!

@attheballet‌ we’ll see you there! We are the ones from. California!

Alright, giant step forward this weekend!
D’s Final auditions completed for Balwin Wallace, Coastal Carolina, Point Park, Rider, Pace, Viterbo, TCU & CAP21
PreScreens passed to: Penn State, Otterbein, Texas State & OU!
Now to schedule Unifieds & On Campus auditions…

Cherry on top? She was complemented several times for her choice of monologue & headshot. Penn State even complimented her dancing, which she considers her weakest link.

Question from Moonifieds- kids who auditioned at BW the weekend before get an answer in December (at least if they are following same format as last year) do the moonified kids get an early answer as well?

I can answer that from last year’s experience. Yes, they do.

Do you happen to know if any, or how many were accepted from moonifieds?

I can confirm from this year. Yes, they do this year as well. ;)

I don’t know about last year, but year before last there were some accepted to BW that auditioned at Moonifieds. However, I don’t recall when they received their acceptance notification. It may have been deferred until Spring but I don’t remember.

:)
