Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

Submitted prescreen to Ithaca on November 2 and heard back on November 8 - passed! Not sure if it makes any difference but submitted application (through Common App) in mid-October and all documents had been received by the time his prescreen was submitted. Maybe the timing of the application and receipt of materials has something to do with it? There are still many audition spots available in all locations if that helps.

I think you’ll go crazy trying to analyze some of this stuff. I recall that before Ithaca even had prescreens, the timing of how they accepted and denied students varied greatly throughout the season and amongst applicants.

I have a student whom I am advising for Acting, not MT. This student sent in everything to Ithaca on Nov. 25 and got the invitation to audition on Nov. 26. I thought that was very quick.

Just got a yes on my pre-screen for University of the Arts! That was my last one! Now I just gotta audition and wait.

@Mter1997 Congratulations! I love to hear good news, its so exciting! My S received a yes on a pre-screen today too! I can only imagine how exciting acceptances will be!

Ugh
THE WAIT
Rumor has it that Baldwin Wallace has sent out some decisions

Do we know if early acceptances went out in waves last year or did everyone pretty much hear on the same day?

S heard yesterday from BW - acceptance via snail mail. It was an unexpected surprise!

WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS! Feel free to update the acceptance posts!

Last year we didn’t have early acceptances noted on CC but the trend seemed to be acceptances first, then rejections and then wait lists. For November auditions - December 15 or 20 was the date but those wait listed didn’t hear until early/mid Jan.

Congratulations!! If BW follows the pattern from last year, acceptances came in a wave, then deferrals (maybe 3 days later), then rejections (a few days after that).

Thank you, @GSOMTMom! I think I scared him, handed him the envelope crying like a big baby.

@Jrdirectortommy‌ , it seemed “wavy”, but it was also based on whether everything was received in admissions or not. The D’s decision went out later than others because she needed to get in an essay. No matter if the decision is yes or no, all documentation has to be received by admissions before the decision is mailed.

@Theatremom2015‌ AWESOME!! Congrats!!

As a frame of reference, my S received his rejection on 12/14. I remember because it was the same day he auditioned at Rider.

Congrats @Theatremom2015 so exciting! Happy for everyone who gets an acceptance!

Trying to stay positive our day will come for us too and I’m guessing I will cry too!

I saw on last years 2018 acceptance thread that rejections were labeled as “redirections” I love that.

One thing that is consistent on CC is that in the end it appears most if not all our kids end up happy at the school they attend even if it isn’t the school they thought they wanted.

CONGRATS @Theatremom2015!!!

I wanted to bring something up for people who may have kids in PA schools, or are alums of summer programs, or something else where you know a whole “class/group” of friends (esp close friends) going through the BFA process. This may be a touchy subject. When info comes in it is nice to get news from someone personally rather than from social media. This can be particularly true when you have friends who auditioned at the same time, (esp with these early ones) and are all waiting for their 1st news. Finding out that the letters/emails/phone calls have started increases the pressure, and things can get tense.

ConGrats @Theatremom2015! 2 inevitable questions: In what part of the country do you reside? When did he audition? Onsite or at Moonifieds on the 22nd? <:-P =D>

Audition was onsite and we’re in the northeast. @toowonderful‌ you’re point is well taken!

Thank you! @Theatremom2015. And again, congrats! Great school from what I understand! (And thank you for posting here as well.) There are several auditions this weekend, and you are right toowonderful, no need to rattle our kids this weekend by posting on Social Media. But of course, word gets out. Even before Tmom2015 posted, there was a post about a rumor BW was mailing some offers.

My D knows two boys who were accepted at BW! Congrats to all! We are sitting in O’Hare waiting for the flight to State College. Here we go!
